Some of you might have seen my Facebook status, but I just had to share the neatest BFing experience I had yesterday!

I was at the mall with my MIL & FIL helping shop for a Christmas Family we sponsor with a volunteer organization, buying toys for the less fortunate kids, and baby was with us... And of course she got hungry.

It's the weekend before Christmas at the biggest mall in town, and almost ALL of the chairs in the whole mall are gone because they've been replaced with seasonal kiosks. So what do I do? I find one of the last available chairs in the whole place which just so happens to be 20 feet from an entrance, in front of a big box store, and in the middle of that wing of the mall LOL - Not on purpose, there were just no other chairs ANYwhere!

So I'm sitting there feeding Izzy, not even really thinking anything of it (who knew all those women who say you can BF in public without a second thought weren't lying?) when this random lady walks up to me and says "I just wanted to say bravo."

Of course, I looked at her totally puzzled and confused, not even realizing she was talking about NIP...

She went on to say "I nursed 3 of them, and I just had to come over and say bravo!" and she walked off into the mall.

I'd heard of women getting "congratulated" for BFing in public, but I never thought it would happen to me - I was always waiting for the dirty looks. Well, if I ever got dirty looks, I sure didn't see them - but that was pretty darn cool.

I hope I can do that some day to a new momma and make her feel good!

Love it! Yay for an awesome experience! I've had women smile at me and nod when I NIP and it always makes me feel good. Kudos to you for having the guts to NIP!

aww that is great! i have had several positive breastfeeding experiences. I haven't had to feed him in public yet other than at family events and with people I know, but not really with total strangers. My new doctor was thrilled i'm breastfeeding and congratulated me on it. I also have had several ladies my mom's age comment on my udder cover and talk about how cool it is!

I guess i figured most people did it, and i didn't think I was doing anything that special. But people seem to really be impressed when you nurse.

That's awesome! I love when I get comments like that. I just had someone comment to me while we were on vacation in California. She asked how old the girls were and then gave me cudos for nursing them past a year. It felt great to get that and not weird looks for extended nursing.

It is awesome! I love the comments I get on being able to do it discreetly, too - I don't use covers, I feel like they just draw MORE attention to what you're doing. I've mastered using my shirt to cover up... The most you'll usually see is a bit of my side, and most people don't even notice unless they know what they're looking for (aka have nursed babies or been around someone nursing a lot.)

Its so flattering to hear compliments about nursing, because it was *so* hard in the beginning that I never even believed I'd have the guts to nurse in the mall - and here I did it the other day without even thinking twice. I literally was confused at first when the lady approached, until I realized what she was talking about! BFing has just become such 2nd nature, I love it.

so is NIP with or without a cover? I've always used a cover... in public places (mall etc) but at home or friends houses I don't.

I don't even own a cover LOL - I didn't buy one, and I was only offered one after I had "mastered" covering with my shirt anyhow. Layers are awesome, too!

That was still the highlight of my weekend!
