So I had my 34 week appointment today. Things went pretty well. Just a slight amount of protein in my urine. Baby boys heartbeat was in the 140s. I am still measuring ahead a little bit. Only 4-5 days now, but still ahead. I lost yet another pound instead of gaining, so they werent real thrilled with me for that, but said at least its only a pound. I get next week off from appointments and then I start going every week. At my next appointment they will do my Group B strep test and start checking my cervix!

Now for the part that I found strange...my bp was 138/110 . Now I know I have had slightly high bp for quite a while, but it is always only my top number. 110 seems quite high for a bottom number too, but my midwife didnt seem concerned at all! Is that normal? I do have a cold right now so is that maybe why? I was shocked she didnt say anything about it.

They will probably keep their eye on you with the highbp and protein in your urine...but it is good that they don't seem too concerned...if you feel light headed during the next two weeks, I would definitely call and let them know though

i agree with what tonya said but also wanted to add my drs all told me it was normal for your bp to go up some toward the end. I had high BP the whole time and the last few weeks it was higher than what it had been throughout most of my pregnancy. I am sure they will keep an eye on you though.

Honestly, I personally would be concerned or at least I would check into it a little more.

I had elevated BPs through my pregnancy as well (not just towards the end) combined with the protein in the urine and was put on bedrest due to fears of preeclampisa--which I did end up with towards the end of my pregnancy.

Maybe it was just a fluke, especially with you being sick...but my blood pressure never even got as high as your did today during my pregnancy and my doctor ordered NST and bedrest.

Good luck though! Hopefully it was just a fluke and it goes back to your "normal" range!

Your midwife probably will keep an eye on it for your next appt, taking into consideration that your sick.

Can you give them a quick call and ask? My blood sugars were a little high last week and even though they are completely fine now it was really bothering me so I just called the nurse today about it. She is going to call me back tomorrow. I feel better knowing I'll get to hear what she has to say. If you talk to your midwife then you can stop worrying! I'm sure she won't mind.

Go get yourself a home blood pressure monitor and keep an eye on it yourself at home - it'll make you feel better.

I had high blood pressure my whole pregnancy - the further along - the higher it got - I did end up getting pre-e (along w/ my GD - how lucky am I?) The day I got induced my bp was around 145/100.

Towards the end of mine I had a few times where it went high like that. Just keep an eye on it and if you have any concerns make sure you let your doctor know.

My BP was low throughout my 1st pregnancy but got a little higher than normal towards the last few weeks (38-41 weeks). If you have any concerns, I think you should give a quick call to your doctor's office. No need to be worried and raise your BP. Please take it easy and KUP.
