Now that Mikey is starting the transition to cows milk, is he supposed to drink less quantity? I just remembered something the Dr. said that didnt quite register with me at the time... he said something along the lines of "about 20 oz a day"... well right now he's drinking about 32oz (4 8oz bottles) of formula so am i basically supposed to be removing one of his bottles, or give 4 5oz bottles now instead? I know i am to increase his food but i feel like he's going to be hungry bec/ he really gets excited and sucks down his bottles fast these days...

I guess i'm just not clear on the details of this transition thing. Ideally in the next few months he should be having three straight meals?? and three bottles/cups?

Yes, 20oz a day of milk is where our LOs are to be as toddlers. You will need to increase his food and offer another source of liquid (water, juice, etc). I'm having a hard time with getting Bella around that number because she is a milk addict We are around 24oz now but that took time to get there!

We give her mots for tots (which is watered down to begin with) and then add more water to it, so it's more or less flavored water. She hates it but we are working on it. I've even watered down her milk (if it's for snack time or something) because she's so smart...if it's not white, she won't drink it!

You can judge it by giving him milk with his three main meals (which should be about 6oz or so each) and then milk before bed. Any other time he should be drinking other liquids (is what I've been told).

Good luck!!!!

Thanks! This is confusing for me because as far as walking, talking crawling and stuff like that he's still going by his adjusted age but for eating and drinking his doctor wants him acting like his actual age. He still seems young to me even though he's 1 I guess i'll just transition slowly... Anywho, thats great advice. i guess i was confused bec/ i thought i was somehow supposed to get him down to three bottles... but that would mean he's going to bed hungry/thirsty bec/ he loves his night bottle
