I know we have some ladies here who had preterm labor and I'm curious if you were told this at any of your checks. At L and D last night the doctor did a cervical check and she said that my outer cervix were kind of open and soft but my inner cervix were closed so I should be fine. I asked specifically if that meant I was dilated any and she said No so that should be okay right? I just don't think any woman wants to hear any part of her cervix are open at this point.

That happened to me last year. I had preterm labor starting at 32 weeks and with every check by my OB (except for like the last 3) he always said the inner one was closed but the other one was dilating. It's definitely scary but hopefully it'll stop and won't continue. Were you having lots of contractions?

They weren't contractions, just lots of stabbing cramping and back pain.

I havent, but there were a few people in my DDC that did...are they going to monitor your cervix more closely from here? It seems a bit early for it to be thinning...

They didn't say but at my next appt I'm definitely going to have her check them to make sure they are opening further.

I had the opposite. My cervix was closed tight on the outside, but we could see funneling on the inside. That combined with my contractions really worried my Dr. I think it's worse to see the opening from the inside than the outside. I hope you have a great next appointment and don't have to worry about this.

I went into pre-term labor, but they hadn't checked my cervix at all at any appointments yet. Good luck at your next appointment!
