What I mean is.. Are there certain things you believe in, or are for that maybe aren't as important to Everyone else.
Like me for example: I would NEVER vote for some one who wanted to make Vaccines Law. Ever. Period.
But to everyone around (well those that don't know me.) they don't care one way or the other. It doesn't make a difference to them.
So is there a 'minute' issue that doesn't get debated or even brought up much that you care about?

It's not a minute issue, but health care is the #1 issue for me. McCain wants everyone to shop around and pick the insurance that best suits their needs. ha. ha. HAHAHAHAHAAHAH. That scares me more than anything else put forth in this campaign (well, that and sarah palin).

I just wish Healthcare was lower cost. I have employer coverage but I pay $117 dollars every two weeks for it.. It sucks. But I do not want nationalized health care..

We are self employed and pay 1,000 a month for insurance. Then have a deductible and then have to pay a percentage of everything...if McCain gets his wish, many more people will be in our shoes.
Obama is not for nationalized health care, that was hilary.
I wouldn't vote for anyone who mandated vaccines either, btw. that would be awful!

Thanks for Clarifying Lori. I didn't think Obama was for it, but I wasn't 100% sure. GEES 1000 dollars a month. That is insane. We have to pay a $20 copay everytime we go to the dr and then we pay 20% on somethings and 10% on another. I HATE it. BEcause even with insurance its still insanely expensive.
And Yay some one agrees with me on vaccines..LOL

I don't agree w/ mandated vaccines either.
Obama's health care plan is by far superior. If McCain gets his, I think a LOT of people will be in trouble. Obama doesn't want nationalized healthcare. Most people would continue as they are.
Education is big for me, but no politician ever agrees w/ me 100%. They don't know enough about education. BUT who they surround themselves w/ about education is important. There have been a couple teachers on a list I'm on who were going to vote for McCain, until they found out who his education person was. Now they are voting for Obama b/c his education person is better- even though they don't agree w/ Obama 100% on education.

Education does get thrown to the back some... I don't care much for either of their plans honestly.

Yep, healthcare is a thorn in my side and I'm not really on board with either candidate right now. Its too darn expensive now and with one of the provisions that was just added into the bail out, premiums will rise. Every new thing thats covered raises premiums and for us, it would be $1,100 a month right now...or it was when I got the quote 6 months ago. But the alternative is that we have to raise taxes and trust that the govt. can run an effective program. I have no faith in my govt. to do that at this time.

Education and health care are my top priorities. With education I would love to see more arts put back into the school. I guess that would be a minute detail for some. I think my son's school is great, but there is no band, no orchestra, no choir. They don't get to do any of that until middle school. It wasn't like that when I grew up. At my niece's school, they have no art program whatsoever. Kids need to be able to express themselves, and art is a great way to do that.
The cost of health care is just way too high. I don't like McCain's plan at all.
Btw, I do have my children vaccinated but I would never want to see it mandated.

I feel like the immigration issue has disappeared, but that one is still important to me - sanctuary cities, border security, what to do with the illegals in the country currently, plus the immigration system itself. Unfortunately, both candidates underwhelm me on this one.
After that, I'm with the rest of you ladies, health care, eduction, etc. I totally disagree with mandated vaccines.

You and Obama agree on something!! From his website: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/

On health care reform, the American people are too often offered two extremes - government-run health care with higher taxes or letting the insurance companies operate without rules. Barack Obama and Joe Biden believe both of these extremes are wrong, and that’s why they’ve proposed a plan that strengthens employer coverage, makes insurance companies accountable and ensures patient choice of doctor and care without government interference.[/b]

I don't want to hijack this thread so go to his website for the specifics on the HOWs.

I don't need to go to his website as I've known I agree with him(for the most part) on healthcare for months and I've been vocal about it on the board . I even started a thread on it and was specifically asked ...."why should I pay for you?" I have a different perspective on it than many conservatives and I won't go into my rant on the issue . But, I agree with Obama on some issues and if it were a different year and those issues were my top priorities(and if I could have gotten past a few other issues), he would probably get my vote. I'm disgusted with both candidates on the bail out and really wish that at least one of them had voted against it because it could have been a major game changer for me. And....he did pick Biden and I'm SO not a Biden fan.

Don't even get me started on the lack of arts!! It's awful. Kids need it. I'm currently at a magnet school- for performing and media arts and it is awesome. The kids do so well BECAUSE they have arts. Not only that but they have 2 electives plus PE, and your PE can be a dance class! So you could have:
math
English
history
science
dance
art
video production
we also have bands, chorus, etc. It's fabulous. I wish every school was like this. I firmly believe the students perform better because of the arts they are in.
And immigration is important for me too. But I'm on the opposite end from most on here I'm sure. I do like what Obama has said about immigration, though that has not been mentioned recently.

I am not a regular on this board, so I hope not one minds me posting?? Healthcare is huge for me. I have two adopted children who would be in big trouble if the pre existing condition thing is allowed to continue. My baby has a cleft palate, lip, missing leg, fingers, toes and eye condition. If my husband lost his job and we had to get new insurance they would deny my son. Many people die because of this issue. I would like to see it change. Insurance companies have WAY to much power over who lives and who dies, who get treatment and who suffers.

Welcome
I do like Obama's Immigration plans better but I just don't see how well it will be enforced
I went to a public school system my whole life... Band started in 6th grade, drama in 9th grade (which reminds me I didn't have to take Oral communications because if you took drama instead they let you clep out), However music and art were present from K-12

The economy is my top priority right now and I'm unhappy with both candidates on this one so I'm watching and waiting to hear their plans.
Foreign affairs is my second priority and I think agree more with McCain in this area.

I'm a homebirth and VBAC activist- that's an issua I'd really like to have brought up as part of the health care plans they have.

Immigration is a big issue for me. Not as big as other issues on the table right now, but it's still really important to me! If I were soley voting on that issue I *think* I would vote for Obama. I've read both candidate's proposals and I agree with Obama MUCH more, but I don't know what his voting history is, so that would be the only clause for me. But there are more important issues to me that swing me towards McCain.
I also think education is a big issue that isn't as important right now. I agree with what you other ladies have said about that.

I was so glad when Obama talekd about state to state health insurance shopping. He was DEAD on. Just like credit card companies just about ALL set up shop in Delaware- they can get away will nearly any interest rate and any business practice there, check most of your credit card companies and see that they are all out of Delaware...can you imagine the health insurance brands setting up in a state with lax laws and come to find out you are not as covered as you *think* you are because your insurance is governed by the laws of another state...THAT is real.
Also McCain didn't even dare try and explain why he was taxing healthcare....so yay he won't raise taxes but surprise! You now have a new healthcare tax...that you can not pay for out of your $5,000 because that goes right to the insurance company- that I do not mind as much, but what I do mind is having a new tax on healthcare...
My issue is healthcare....pre-existing conditions exemptions hurt people a lot...I was shopping around and looking into assurant and their list of pre-existing conditions is soooo extensive I can not say I would be comfortable even using them...it is like they only want to insure the teflon man or something!
So Healthcare is my hot button issue
