^ Yep.

The good thing about it is that there is no manual. If you stop doing it, really there is no harm done. If you start it, no harm done. I don't think a 5 month old really cares where they pee.

this is just another way to control babies... just let them be babies.
How is allowing them eliminate in something other than a diaper "controlling" them, or preventing them from being babies?

Exactly? If baby pees in a bush, a bowl, the toilet, the backyard... it's controlling? But putting them in a diaper is the proper and only way?

I remember reading something about this and the context was a doctor talking to women in Africa, and explaining what diapers were all about, and he said something about mothers not knowing when babies had to pee or poo... and the African moms looked at him like he was crazy, like how could any mother NOT know when their child was going to pee or poo.

To them, this was just the normal, natural way of doing things - and they spend all their time with their babies, so they get to know pretty quickly the signs their baby is displaying.

I will say that EC is not for me, but thank heavens that the MAJORITY of the people in the world do this, because sadly the majority of North Americans use disposable diapers which will sit in landfills for eons.

I said I took the ridiculous comment back, I knew nothing about this.

Can I ask why you've decided to do that?

For me, it's just been a natural part of my family. Like the quote above, I had no idea there was even a NAME for it. It's just what you did

It seemed weird to me not to do it. I didn't understand why anyone was ever opposed to it.

I hadn't even heard of this until the last few years. Ever. I think it's pretty interesting and when you get pregnant and have your baby I'll be very interested in reading about it

It was a test. I was testing you to see if you had me on ignore. Obviously not. Just kidding with you Lash...just kidding. My verdict is still out on this one, so I have no comment at the moment...just marking my spot in this thread so I can pick up where I left off and hopefully learn something.

I am interested in your info. on this because earlier today, someone said you (I think) knew about EC...it's completely new to me.

If I can figure out a way to link it together, I most certainly will! Otherwise it will have to stay on my (one day) baby blog

I'm hoping Angela (SoImarriedanerd) comes in here soon, cause she's EC'd with her son since he was an infant

Please no, I can't take another thread/blog/sentence or anything on Twilight.

Take note: Whenever I see a Twilight thread, this is me: So, if any of you wanna keep me out of a thread, put Twilight in the thread title and I'm out of it.

Just imagine if this forum was full of women from Africa or Asia. They'd be laughing and mocking the women who use diapers... just know that it's all about perspective, but unless it's actually harmful to the baby, then really what does it matter what other mom's choose?

Just because it's different than what someone else picks, unless it's literally harmful, it really shouldn't matter. To say that something different is wrong, less than, or ridiculous because it's not the Western Way is ethnocentric
