We're all adults here, so I hope a stylized version of a swear word won't precipitate any fits of swooning. I have the smelling salts just in case. If you click on these links, you will hear the F-word repeatedly. Hothouse flowers need not apply. Youtube Version Website. With link to shirts.
I just saw this video and I can't figure out how I feel about it. I have all my rights as a white straight person, so I don't feel it's fair for me to tell these people that they can't be angry or express that anger. I also way enjoy it when people drop the political bull and veiled "respect" for un-respectable views and just speak plainly. Then again, I can't help but feel that people who are already put off by gay marriage are going to be more put off by the rage here. This isn't changing hearts and minds, it's preaching to the choir. Of course, I think the video is less to change minds and more to get people to buy the shirts, and those who need changing in their hearts and minds weren't going to buy the shirts or contribute money to the cause in the first place. And I'll admit, I really want one of the "dudes marry dudes" shirt.
In short, I don't think the video will change minds, and I'm not sure it was meant to. It's inflammatory and in your face for a reason, to galvanize the base and get them angry too. Controlled anger leads to action.
What do you think? Should they have made the video? Will it help? Is it right? And slight spinoff, would you let your 10 year old swear publicly for a good cause?

I posted this on my fb. I don't know if it'll help anything or not, but I liked the video. I liked how into it the people were and it made me laugh. I agreed with the overall point and message. I like the shirts too, if I had extra cash I'd buy one and wear it with pride. I wouldn't let my kids use that language, and I can see how the language (especially when little ones are using it) would offend some, but eh. I think there's much better ways to get a point across without getting your kids to use language like that.
I loved the video. I can understand how it can be offensive, especially with the minors cursing. But in reality, I'd be willing to bet the lots of minors already curse. I like the shirts, I probably get one myself. And yes, I would let my 10 year old wear it. People need to really just get over it, and that's an awesome way to get attention.

I love the site, and the shirts. i'd wear it and let my kids too. (though mine are a little older. 10 and 9)
For some reason i can't get the vid to work. i'm not shocked by kids swearing though. i've caught mine a couple times, and i have no delusions that they don't ever.

I wouldn't let my child wear that shirt. It's catchy and makes a statement but it's not what I want my child to be publically saying (talking about the F bomb on the shirt, not the gay part).
I loved the video. I think it's the frustration and anger. For centuries people of that sexual orientation have been treated horribly. They have been killed, spit on, beat up, raped, screamed at, humiliated, tortured...
They are ******* angry and it's about time! I totally support this video. And the kids in the video should use the f word. They are tired of this crap that has been going on for far too long.
For so long, they have been quietly taking the punches and the insults. They have their parade and few politicians that are of that orientation, but not many public figures to stand up for them. They are told they are going to hell, they are disgusting, they aren't normal or natural.
Well **** that. They are done with that. They are done with the hate and the verbal and physical abuse. (We speak of bullying in schools like it's below all of us and we're shocked kids would do that to such extremes, yet as adults, some still bully those that are gay. By the way.)
So FCKH8! *fistpump*

I LOVE the video, am considering getting a shirt, and would absolutely let my 10-year-old be known as the "FCKH8" kid if he felt strongly enough to also defend the cause. (For the record, my 2-year-old that I assume will be the eventual 10-year-old in question spelled out F___ from a shirt today.. I have no illusions that he'll know the word by then. )

What about the "Some dudes marry dudes, get over it!" shirt? No profanity, just a straightforward statement about your position on the subject?
That's the one I'm buying when Andrew gets paid, considering we finally have some financial breathing room.

I LOVE the video!!! But, I'm not sure i'd allow my child to swear publicly for the cause or not. I'd be afraid he would think it was okay to use to any time or think it was "cool" to use the F bomb which is definitely not okay coming out of a 10 yr old's mouth. I want a tshirt!
We wanted to get shirts for all three of us (the 'dudes' shirt for DF, 'chicks' for me and FCKH8 for Cait), but they don't make shirts small enough to fit the wee one. BOO. Might still get the 'dudes' shirt, and DF & I can share it.
I absolutely love this video. Basically just ditto everything Sarah said, 'cause I don't think I could say it any better!
I completely agree with the message and I LOVE the video!! I get the idea of using profanity to get people's attention. However I think using the profanity is just going to make haters say "See they cuss too!"
I like the video, completely agree with it, I support gay marriage, have been to 2 gay weddings (both females), my son has been to 1 gay wedding. But I don't think they need to swear, I don't get that part. I mean, they can make a point, and have, without using the F word to do it. I don't mind swearig, just saying. But I really don't like to see the 7ish year old using the F word. I wouldn't allow my son's to say that at that age and I wouldn't allow them to wear a shirt with it on there.

If that is what my son believed then I would have no problem with him wearing that shirt. It's the outright printed cursing that I have a problem with.
Of course, this would be my grandmother seeing that "Dudes marry Dudes" shirt
I understand the motivation behind it and I support gay marriage but it would be a no on the t-shirts for my kids. Only because I don't want my kids wearing anything that says "F" or "get over it". If it was just "some dudes marry dudes" or "some chicks marry chicks", maybe. Thats what I would prefer for myself too but would probably opt for the buttons because I like buttons
