Amy, there is no excuse for anyone to commit a crime. A victim never asks to be victimized. I don't care if they are standing in front of a man naked!

I'm just astounded that you are aloud to do a Master's in Psychology without having completed all the basics yet. Even if you did it a few years ago how can you forget? You shouldn't be allowed to be doing a Masters if you can't even remember things you've studied. That is just insane and not good on your preceptor.

What a coinky-dink. This was just being discussed on another thread and obviously stirred up some raw emotions and then BAM! Amy and her friend were JUST discussing this. Crazy ish, man.

Ya, totally not even seeing how this is possible. I have a degree in graphic design and learned this. An undergrad in graphic design is no where near in process for your masters so I'm baffled at how this has not even been touched upon. Didn't they have some type of a lecture during orientation covering this for ALL students?

Regardless as Leslie has said, this is not only something that needs to be taught in a formalized setting. Most, as evidenced by this debate, as quickly able to see the fallacy in that type of argument and disregard it as nonsense, without the need to be taught it.

And if you've been taught before now, good for you. I haven't learned everything yet. I am mid-way through my Master's degree.

And I haven't felt the need to look up information about what goes through a rapists mind. I will now though.

Like I said. I agree. I don't think they are asking for it. I made a wrong assumption about rapists and I'm sorry. I will admit that. But not knowing that does not make me a bad person. I was just ignorant about it.

Everyone has already said the things I wanted to say.

I just wanted to say it again that nobody deserves to be violated in any way for any reason. Anyone that would sympathize with a person that thinks so needs their head checked.

This.

To say someone asks for it based on how they dress or act is like saying a kid asked to be molested by her Dad because she walked around in just undies. NO ONE ASKS FOR IT!!

I have been in many debates about this, and this scenario touches home to me. My sister went through something and people say she asked for it, and it sickens me that anyone has that mindset.

No means no.

Don't know about the other thread or whatever, but these are pretty great:

I like the naked comment. A woman could be literally actually asking for it, and then change her mind. The second she says NO is the second that counts. And NO ONE deserves it. The opinion that anyone deserves to be violated and victimized that way is disgusting. I'm glad i don't know the person who said it. They might be picking teeth off the floor.

Honey Bun, I don't know how else to justify your post besides calling you a troll. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, though.

So if a woman was dressed in a large sweatshirt and sweat pants, would she be deserving of rape?

Yes, it's in psychology. AGAIN< I mainly had classes in Child development. Now it's marital and family therapy. My Psyd is in abnormal psychology. You have to learn EVERYTHING under the sun it seems. Maybe I did learn it I just don't remember. My graduate school is online through Capella University and so I take classes that pertain to my interest. My undergrad was like several years ago. Maybe where you're from it was learned within two years, but at mine it wasn't.
How can rape crisis management not be taught in child development yet? Aren't you being trained to assist all children, even the ones who had to deal with sexual assault? Oh how I have so much more I want to say, but it's really just not worth my time and energy.

How convenient! Every time Amy has a view that EVERYONE is opposed to, there is always a "newbie" that joins the debate. Geesh it's getting old already.

Babybear, my sentiments exactly! I couldn't help but think how convenient from the moment I saw the thread title.

This, exactly.
