I found this on the ttc w/ma board.

I'm not putting this on the abortion board, because I don't want to focus on abortion.

I want you to focus on the other things that women lose in their reproductive rights other than the ability to terminate a pregnancy. No IUD's. No Morning after Pill. And the lack of ability to say what happens to fertilized eggs during IVF. With this amendment, any egg that is fertilized is considered a person. It cannot be destroyed in any way or it could be considered murder.

So answer these questions thinking about PRE IMPLANTATION ONLY.

How do you feel about this amendment?

Do you feel that the government has any right in telling you which forms of pre-conception birth control you have the right to use? (this does include the morning after pill)

Do you feel that during IVF parents should be forced to use embryos that contain genetic issues that they are PAYING big money to avoid passing onto their children?

The ammendment did not pass. Last report was 55% voted not in favor.

How do you feel about this amendment? I think its terrifying... A christian organization controlling what I am able to do with my fertility is frightening. I think its up to each person to control their fertility, not the government.

Do you feel that the government has any right in telling you which forms of pre-conception birth control you have the right to use? (this does include the morning after pill) Nope

Do you feel that during IVF parents should be forced to use embryos that contain genetic issues that they are PAYING big money to avoid passing onto their children?

No, I don't think thats fair at all for the reason you stated. Women aren't baby producing robots... I can only imagine the heartbreak of being forced to get pregnant with a baby that you know will not survive out of the womb and / or losing a baby that couldn't make it through the pregnancy. Scares the hell outta me that Michigan has something like this on the table as well.... oy

Personhood Amendments have been around for a good period of time. It also involves Embryo Adoption vs Embryo Donation. Embryo Adoption would fall under personhood laws, so anyone wanting to not interrupt IVF rights typically only supports Embryo DONATION.

How do you feel about this amendment? I think that it's horrible and scary that someone else could control my fertility.

Do you feel that the government has any right in telling you which forms of pre-conception birth control you have the right to use? (this does include the morning after pill) Absolutely not

Do you feel that during IVF parents should be forced to use embryos that contain genetic issues that they are PAYING big money to avoid passing onto their children? No flipping way. The heartbreak of having to be pregnant with a baby you know won't survive, not to mention the suffering that baby could go through in it's short life.

Absolutely scary. Pretty soon women will have NO rights while pregnant. An unborn childs rights do not trump mine. I am more than an incubator.

How do you feel about this amendment? Going way to far.

Do you feel that the government has any right in telling you which forms of pre-conception birth control you have the right to use? (this does include the morning after pill) No one should dictate how my choices in birth control.

Do you feel that during IVF parents should be forced to use embryos that contain genetic issues that they are PAYING big money to avoid passing onto their children? I have no opinion on this one.

As an IUD using woman who did IVF to get pregnant, I think this amendment is so wrong. Let's bring women back to the stone ages. Oh and while they're at it, they might as well take away our righ to vote.

Thank goodness. Alabama would have followed right in behind them if it had passed.

yeah I was pretty excited over it, friends of mine live in MS and said it was pretty intense out side some of the polling stations.

I for sure thought it would pass. The polling stations were packed and EVERYONE I asked about it said they were for it. Of course, they only thought it was dealing with abortion.

Don't you love when people vote for things and have no clue what they are voting for!? It's so frustrating.

I wonder if there would be black market birth control if this passed?
