So Michelle Duggar annouced that they are expecting number #20.

Michelle Duggar: Duggar Family Defends 20th Pregnancy Decision : People.com

How do you feel about this?

Me personally, I see no trouble financially as they live debt free in a house and can support all their children. My main issue with it was with so many pregnancies, you become more at risk for having something go wrong. Look at her last pregnancy with Josie. They both almost died. She is in her 40's also. I have no problem with people in their 40's having babies, but she has so much adding up against her and she is already seeing a high risk doctor. Everyone has a right to how many kids they want, but when the life of yourself and your baby is at risk for it, when do you say enough? If she were to die, what about all of her children now?

I am still on the fence about this one because of all of this. Anyone else?

I used to hate on her, but I don't anymore. Am I annoyed with all the pregnancy announcements? Yup! But they do take care of the kids themselves and they all seem to be doing just fine. I just couldn't imagine myself having that many children for one, and to continue having children once I'm a grandmother. Also, with the complications she had last time, I would be too scared to try to do through that again.

I think its incredibly irresponsible of her to have another baby not only for herself but for the baby. The last baby was born at like 26 weeks... She has other kids who depend on her, repopulating the earth isn't her job. As long as the person is healthy and isn't risking their life / the baby's life I really could care less how many kids a person has. But she has SO many kids already and her last pregnancy was so dangerous. It just seems really irresponsible of them to keep having more kids.

I don't care how many kids people have. However, I am concerned for her health. Her last pregnancy she had Pre-eclampsia. Now while that pre-e was triggered by gall stones, she is still at risk for developing pre-e again due to her increased maternal age. Yes, lots of people have kids in their 40s, but they aren't on their 20th child in their 40s. She is a grand-multipara at this point, actually 9 kids ago. Also, since she has kids so close together her baby is at risk too. It typically takes 18 months - 24 months for the woman's body to fully recover from childbirth. It takes a long time to get our nutritional stores back up to the correct level to heathily support both mom and baby. I will congratulate her and hope for the best with this pregnancy and baby.

Meh I don't really care what she does with her uterus.

Her last pregnancy was a freak thing that could happen on your 1st or 31st pregnancy so to say it's irresponsible for her to have a future pregnancy is silly to me. That would be like saying anyone who has had a preemie should never have another baby.

Ditto this. While I would never want 20 kids, or even half of that, it's not my family. The kids seem well taken care of and the family is financially stable. I have seen people on FB actually saying that there should be LAWS defining how many babies people can have. LAWS!!! What is this, communist China? Who cares how many babies she has - we don't have to deal with the consequences.

My understanding is that if you have a birth before somewhere around 32 weeks (I think) due to pre-e, your chances of the next pregnancy being even worse are pretty high. That's why I was advised not to have anymore.

Since she had pre-e before she is at risk again for it, her age is also a risk factor.

I'm really really happy they're having #20. 19 is such a weird number. I hope they stop now while they're on a nice even number. lol

I don't care how many kids she has. So far her kids are turning out to be well behaved good hearted people.

This sounds totally corny, but she's my role model as a mother. Obviously I can't have any more kids so 4 is as far as I get to go, but she's just such a good mother. She is raising a happy family in a peaceful home. I wish I had her patience and her strength.

It's none of my business how many kids she has & I don't get why people seem to think it's theirs. Yes they have a tv show but that doesn't mean you get input on their lives. You just get to watch what they chose to show you.

We all take risks every day just by waking up in the morning. A mother of 2 could die of cancer & leave her kids alone. Anyone can get hit by a bus or die in a car crash. You can't live your life on the what ifs.

I get people getting upset by Octomom because we're supporting the kids she couldn't afford. But these people are completely supporting their kids. The kids are all healthy, happy & seem very well adjusted.

Ditto. My son died and it doesn't matter if he was my 2nd or 20th, things can happen with any pregnancy. It is very ignorant to say she should stop. This is her second pregnancy with Pre-e. The first time was early in her child rearing days. It is her choice, her body and her family.

I love that family. Mom reminds me of my neighbor with her gentleness, and how she raises her children etc. Even if they were to lose a child I'm pretty sure they would have more if she got pregnant again. They allow "god to choose the amount of children they have".

What really gets to me is the comments that people are making about it. Like a lot of you ladies have said, just because she is on freakin' TV doesn't give people any say what the duggar family does or doesn't do. Not their body not their choice.

I wish them luck. I figure they'll need it.

Pre-e twice
Conflicting c-section numbers (some say new baby will be #5, some say she's had 7 already)
Advanced Maternal Age
Special incision to deliver Josie
....

I'm sure the list could be added to.

I do think that they're being irresponsible at this point with her health. While I'm aware it is her decision, and she'd happily die to bring a life into the world, that's not fair to her living children (and grand children).

No its not. She is a special circumstance IMO. She has been pregnant for almost 20 years. Her uterus cannot possibly be as healthy as someone who has taken time between pregnancies and allowed their body to heal from the previous pregnancy. Its not just about the pre-e or the preemie or the number of pregnancies or her maternal age, its everything in a huge pile that makes her continual pregnancies dangerous for her and the baby. I think its irresponsible. If they don't want to be criticized or praised for their decisions, they should stop having a reality TV show about their lives. They announced it on the Today show so its not like they are trying to keep it a secret. You put it out there, people are gonna talk about it.

Alot of us have risk factors can cause death in pregnancy. It is a risk some are willing to take. It is not irresponsible, it is their choice. They have to deal with the consequences. I take alot of offense to that arguement. I am extremely high risks and if I choose to have more kids, that it my business. Just because they have a show, does not give anybody a right to judge.

I'd be high risk if I got pregnant again and I realize its a risk that some are willing to take. No one is talking about taking away someone's right to have more kids. They can have as many kids as they feel like, people are allowed to feel that the Duggars are being selfish or irresponsible by having more kids.
I always enjoy that "don't have a right to judge argument" when someone is against the judgment but when someone gets their stuff jumped all over here in a debate and complains, everyone says "well you put it out there!" Irony is my fave!

It is her business and I wish her the best.
She had Pre-E with #2, so I don't see the relevance to the freak thing that happened with her gall bladder last time as any more risky than it was before.
Her doctor has been quoted as saying she has the uterus of someone far below her age and that she is healthy enough to carry more pregnancies (this was before Josie).

20 children isn't something I desire, but I do not find her irresponsible. This will be a planned c-section, I believe, because of the special cut they made with Josie.
I'm always slightly baffled by the strong opinions people have towards the Duggar Family. Their children seem well taken care of and loved, and I just don't see any problem with that.

It is not a choice I would make, but I wish her and her family well health and happiness.

And like any other woman that is pregnant, I wish her a healthy pregnancy and baby.
