The Duggar family debate make me wonder..
In your opinion, what situations do you think make it so that a mother shouldn't have a child or get pregnant?
Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that when the woman is in said situation, she cannot under any circumstance get pregnant. Like magic, she cannot conceive until this situation is resolved. This is not controlled by the govt., but simply the woman's body.
For example, if a woman is in an abusive relationship, she shouldn't have a baby and therefore doesn't conceive one.
Or if the woman is extremely high risk, maybe?
Too many kids already?
Etc.

Wdyt?

Don't think you'll get many, if any, responses on this one.

I realized. It was one of those falling asleep thoughts, so it's not a big deal.

I can't really say who should or shouldn't have a baby, but in general, I think it's best if:

Both partners are wanting the baby
Are financially stable
In a stable, healthy relationship
Able to handle (emotionally, physically, financially) the children they already have
Are healthy

I have to agree with these. All of them are putting the immediate and future needs of the child first.

Hmm, I guess you shouldn't have children if all you want to do is exploit them on tv. I don't mind watching of course, but I'm just sayin'.

If you are ugly.
If your partner is ugly.
If you have ANY physical or mental disability. *shudder*
If you haven't completed AT LEAST the 4th grade.
If you are married to your cousin.
If your chili has beans.
If you do not return your shopping cart.
If you don't think Gerard Butler is insanely good looking.

Unhealthy people have kids all the time. I don't think that should be a disquailifer for kids.

I feel like you need to be healthy enough to give birth and raise a child. If you can't take care of yourself because of illness then you don't need a child to take care of...just my opinion.

I'm not healthy. I'm not capable of doing everything a normal person can do. I think I still make a **** good mom.

I don't think a persons looks is an indicator of parenting skills. I also hate the word "ugly"

If you can't recognize humor you should not be allowed to have children. Add that one to my list.

Plenty of people with physical disabilities are great parents. Some are better parents then "normal" people (whatever "normal" is..)

Calling people ugly is not humorous.

That was a joke...

I don't find Gerard to be sexy, and I like beans with my chili. I should not have kids.

I plainly said if you are so unhealthy you can't care for a child then that's the case. If you fall ill while you are already a parent, that doesn't count.

This isn't a hard concept to understand is it? It has nothing to do with how good of a parent you are...this is our opinion on reasons or situations to NOT have children. As in, I don't have kids yet and i am so unhealthy or I'm broke, or my life is falling apart, so maybe I shouldn't have a kid/or more kids.

Agree or disagree. That's fine.

I don't consider physical disabilities to fall in the "unhealthy" category.

I can't believe I just had to explain that.

I get what you are saying, and I agree.
I don't think ugly people should have kids either. It hurts my eyes. You will only be offended by this, if you yourself, are ugly.

Ugh.... Ugly people having babies are the WORST! So irresponsible.

As for unhealthy people having babies, I know the do it all the time. People who are flat broke ttc too. I don't think it is the ideal situation though. And I'm not talking about a disability or minor health issue. Everyone has health issues. I'm talking about things that make it unlikely the parent will survive the first few years if the babys life, such as morbid obesity, cancer, in controlled diabetes, stuff like that. And again, I guess I have to repeat that I'm not saying these people shouldn't have kids (that's not for me to say), but no it's not ideal.
