“This is the NICU. Nobody cares if you’re a celebrity. Nobody is star-gazing. They just want to see their children,” fumed Coulon, whose wife, whose wife delivered two premature and underweight girls on Wednesday.

This pretty much sums up my feelings about it.

Maybe they just didn't want anyone commenting to their face how the daughter's name sounds like that of a dog??

I was and still am fuming over this. I feel for those parents. NO one has the right to shut down an entire floor like that. This is a case of where I want to see a lawsuit big enough to pay for the hospital expenses and future college of those kids. I would have called the police the moment security denied me the right to see my own kids.

I hope they get sued for everything they are worth. No private security would have kept me from my kids...

Supposedly, this is not true, but if it is, it is disgusting and the hospital's fault in my eyes to let it happen.

It is also America's fault for being so celebrity hungry that they feel they need to do this for privacy. It is said people treat them like royalty. I do not feel that these people (ANY celebrity) is worth a lick of news time.

As the New York post is extremely tabloidy, I don't know as this is true. Off to google a bit.

Oops, I see its the Daily News but I'm still googling.

Beyonce and Jay-Z's Baby: New York Hospital Clears Up Rumors - Yahoo! News
Quote:
In a statement, representatives from Lenox Hill told ABC News, "No security plan that we, or the Carter's security team, put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)."
The hospital in a statement refuted reports that the couple paid to rent a floor of the building to ensure their privacy.
"Lenox Hill Hospital and its staff were delighted to welcome the Carter family for the birth of their firstborn on Saturday evening, but we are troubled by the misinformation being circulated in some news media reports," the statement read.
"The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations.
"The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility. We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days, the hospital said.

Well, call me a skeptic, but I am not sure the hospital would not admit to it. (I am not sure what to believe here.)

I didn't read much, but is the hospital's regular nursery attached to the NICU? Or was their daughter in NICU? If she was, does anyone know why? Maybe it was the typical "I have to have my kid at 34 weeks by c-section so I don't get stretchmarks" thing that celebs do lol

I dont really see parents of preemie twins finding the time to go to the news with false reports. I see them going to the news at a time like this in their lives if someone got in the way of them seeing their kids. Also family members of Coulam have put statements on their own facebook pages and that seems elaborate for a story that doesnt get the family anything in return.

If it's true it's horrible. It's not just the fault of the hospital, Beyonce and Jay-Z are also at fault if they did in fact pay oodles of money to "rent" the floor or most of it which included the NICU, and it is theirs and the hospitals fault at not allowing NICU parents to see their babies. The reports that say this is true said that Beyonce had a c-section, and c-section moms aren't walking up and down the halls in labor, so I don't see what the big deal is. No her baby didn't go to the NICU, as far as I know.

If it isn't true, then that would be awesome. I understand their need to have a security guard or two, but they shouldn't really get special treatment beyond that. Sorry but celebs are people too, they aren't more special than anyone else, especially not NICU parents or other moms in labor. She said she had a natural birth, that's great, but for some reason I find it hard to believe.

According to Beyonce and Jay-Z, she had the baby naturally - no c/s. If they were that worried about privacy, she could have gone to a private hospital or had the baby at home. Just because they are celebrities, they do not have the right to disrupt anyone else's lives even for a minute. Doubly so when it comes to NICU babies.

If this is true and they wanted a completely private birth than they should have chosen to birth at home, a private hospital or rented out an entire birthing center where it would not impede the regular workings of a public hospital.

I can't understand why other celebrities of their caliber are able to birth children without disrupting those around them but they were unable or unwilling to.

At the hospital were I delivered James, the NICU was on lock-down every time a new baby was admitted. This guy claims it was Beyonce and Jay-Z's security team that prevented him from going into the NICU, but it just as easily been hospital security.

^ I don't know, it's just a feeling that I had when I read about it. If she did that is wonderful. But I don't know, it just sounds off to me for some reason.

Are you thinking natural as in no drugs or natural as in the baby came out naturally? Beyonce strikes me as too much of a diva to have had a drug free birth but I think she wouldn't lie about having the baby without a c/s. And no, I don't know why I think she is too much of a diva to have a drug free birth, that is just the feeling I get from it.
