Counting works with Loni; I've never gotten to 3 with her. Bobby on the other hand, whether it was 3 or 300, he wanted me to count to it so he could find out what happens. Nothing phases him except taking away his Nerf gun or going to bed early.

I don't know if they do or don't. My mom didn't yell. I hate seeing parents yelling at their kids in public it makes me feel SUPER awkward. I reallly reallly reallly hope I can control myself and not yell at my kids. Oi.

We're loud. My whole family is loud, I'm loud, DBF is now loud, we're a loud group. So people probably think we yell. We really don't, we don't scream at each other, my parents never yelled at me, except just to be heard. They always got real quite and calm and scared the crap out of us that way. Then they'd talk us to death.

I do scream when I get frustrated. Just one good "AHHH" and then I feel a lot better and more sane. I'm not saying I'll never yell at my kids, I'll just try to pull back.

That would've been me. "I"m gonna count to three and you better get down from there" (we were alays up somewhere), my brother and sister would've gotten down by three (heck my sister would've been down at 1), me and my other sister would've stayed until 3 just to find out what was gonna happen!

I yell and I have spanked. I also count, but I only count down, not up (5,4,3,2,1). Sometimes yelling is necessary to let people know that I'm fudging pissed and I do have a line that can be crossed. Do I enjoy it? No. I feel horrible when I do it at Jace, but after several times of staying patient and exercising other options, yelling sometimes gets the job done.

I think children learn to tune you out the same way you learn to tune them out sometimes. Raising your voice puts them back in focus. Doesn't mean you run around screaming your head off all day and acting a fool.

Plus, I can't imagine talking in my sweet voice all day. People, including my 4 year old, piss me off and I show it from time to time. It's part of life.

Jace yells at me sometimes too. I can't get mad at him really... Freedom of expression and I do it too. He deserves the same emotions.
