Alright ladies, what do you think of this?
I'm a professional skeptic. I'd be rich if I could get paid for my pessimism. I've always held the regard that work at home things are just gimmicks, but I'm curious about this one.
Do you see anything suspicious? Does it look like something worth trying? I'm afraid I just am not able to look at it entirely objectively.

try alpine access. They are a legitimate outsourcing agency for various services. They are hard to get into because you have to have exact specifications (computer-wise) but you can do part-time or full-time and choose from a variety of hours.. I would have worked there myself, but I didn't want to worry about a new computer. I know people who work there. It's like going to a regular job and the hourly is I think $10 per hour if you are just doing the regular taking inbound calls. They train too. Tammy, it would be great if you want to post links to those sites here. They all sound interesting. If not, could you PM them to me? That one where you can upload photos sounds like it would be right up my alley, and I'd love to know about the other artsy-craftsy ones.
I checked out text broker, that one looks fun too.
Thanks!

Cafepress is one you can upload your artwork onto stuff and sell it. I've mostly used it for charity things, but that's because I'm too lazy to upload other stuff to it atm, lol.
And yes, you're allowed to name companies, just not personal links

Just thought I'd add that it all depends on what you like to do and your "why?" I wasn't looking for a job either, but was invited to a party. Loved the product (because I have 4 kids and it was bags, totes, organizational things) and more importantly LOVED that it was founded on a BIble verse that celebrates, encourages, and rewards women. I had just been saying to my husband that I needed to find something to do outside of being a caregiver to everyone. Something that would allow me to re-enter the adult adult female world again and engage with women. I signed up and I love it. It has been the biggest blessing. My point is, the right thing is out there. Be open to it. Follow your heart. Listen. Sometimes God is telling us, but we just aren't listening.

What's the company Melissa?
Michelle, I've heard of Cafe Press before but never realized I could upload my own stuff for sale. D'oh! lol
Actually, there's another site if I can think of it where all you upload is your photography and if people buy prints you get a cut. But so far I don't think I've taken any pictures anyone would be willing to pay for. Still practicing.

Sites similar to Cafe Press are
Zazzle
Redbubble
Printfection
I've done Zazzle and have thought about trying Cafe Press but I just don't have the time. I've brought in a few dollars from Zazzle but its more of a fun hobby than anything serious. I have a photography store there and a couple others that the kids and I are just playing with and its sometimes surprising what people purchase.

Cafepress has never been a huge market for me, in the past that is. But it has provided some extra income here and there. It's more dependent on how much you do, really. There was a time when I had a really huge line of things on there. But then I started using it more for charity events, like RFL and such and I stopped uploading as much stuff on there. I forgot about it for a while. I should probably pick it back up at some point, lol.
The only thing you have to watch with sites like that is copyright and trademark infringement, but, I'm fairly certain you're not an idiot and could manage.(some people, not so much, stuff gets take down notices there and sites like it all the time).

Actually, I'm pretty dense about the particulars of copyright laws. I've seen trade names and stuff sold on Cafe Press and eBay and whatever but I don't know what specifically enables a person to use a trade mark.
For example, sometimes I sketch. Poorly. But let's say I draw a picture of Simba from Lion King and want to put it on a baby t-shirt on Cafe press. Against the rules because it's a Disney character, or Ok because I drew it myself?
Until I can figure all that junk out I think I'll just stick with pictures of my own dogs and horses. But I opened a store on Cafe Press. That looks so cool!! I love tinkering around with pictures, and there's a definite need for more things with pictures of Great Danes on them, according to me.

Yes, even sketches of Disney characters is a no no on Zazzle.
Some vintage images are okay to use if they are old enough and of course anything that is your very own creation or photos. You can use artwork of others if it states that you can in their terms of use. Most places only allow personal use but there are some that allow commercial use. Their TOU usually explains how they would like credit to be given to them for the use of their art.

Luckily for me, Cafe Press has a list of things I'm not allowed to upload right on the upload page. lol But for some reason I'm having trouble uploading. It keeps losing connection after a few minutes, and I've tried making the pic smaller. I guess they're busy.
I'm checking out Zazzle right now.

I just made a practice run on Zazzle to see how easy it is, and it's easy. I had this done in less than 5 minutes. Yea I didn't put in much effort, I'll be making better stuff soon.
Budgerigar Parakeet Drink Coaster from Zazzle.com
Thanks Tammy, for giving me a new addiction! lol But at least this one can possibly be beneficial.

There are some companies that disallow derivatives unless they are clearly different from the original. A sketch, wouldn't likely be different enough, on it's own, but it would depend on what you did to it, or what it looks like, too.(sorry, lol) Disney is one of those companies that CAN be a total bear (with or without cause) about their own stuff. But unless you're a big guy, odds are, they won't do/say anything. Lots of people get away with using trademarks and copyrights, but the moment someone either tells on them, or they get caught, it can be a nasty mess.
Look up DMCA(digital millennium copyright act) and do a little light reading. That will likely help you a lot with what you can, and cannot, legally do.(if you're interested that is). A lot of it is legal jargon but you'll be able to get the jist of it.
I've had to deal with that sort of stuff for years. So it's all second nature to me. But it's pretty straight forward anyway.
Lots of people try and get around it, or simply don't care and break it anyway. Plenty get away with it too. But, I wouldn't personally test the waters.
Anything considered open source, is typically a-ok, as long as you're adding value to it and there is nothing expressly written forbidding it(some open source is free for personal use, just not commercial). So say you found an open source image on the net and wanted to use it, you'd need to do something to it, to add value, in order for it to be ok to use it. Uploading the image as is to a site and slapping it on something, isn't considered adding value, lol... Sometimes there are limits on how much value you add too. Taking a pic off the net, making it grayscale and adding it to a tee, might not be enough.
Cafepress should have something in their TOS or whatever they call it now, that tells you their basic policy on those sorts of images (fair use, open source, things like this).

Alpine Access is great for working at home. But you can get funky hours and its a matter of finding the job that works for you. But you work from home, legit, and it works for a lot.
You have to have a phone service though which many people dont use landlines anymore, lol.

That's one of the biggest things that has always kept me from doing any work on the phone from home, lol. I haven't had a landline in years. That and keeping everything super quiet, is just not going to happen here. If it's not the kids, the cats, the toads, the music, or me...then there is seriously something wrong here. It's never quiet, lol.
(and yes, I like that)

There ARE some legit ways to earn money from home, but most of them involve actually starting a business and working rather than recruiting people into a pyramid scheme (I should know, I've been a freelancer for 7 years!)
If you want to find real ways to make money from home, go to Freelancer.com, oDesk.com and Elance.com and check out what skills people are looking for that you might have. I landed a big contract on oDesk myself - six figures a year - for my marketing expertise
