If there are age minimums then why can't there be age maximums? You must be at least 25 to hold a senate seat, and you must be 35 to run for president. Is that not ageism? Maybe so, but I think it's a great idea that an 18 y/o can't run for president.
And I don't care too much for voting for older people either. I do like Ron Paul because he seems to really be on the ball, but even within my own party I generally tend to vote for the younger candidate. I know that supposedly with age comes wisdom, but also comes arrogance. As a PP said, these guys don't necessarily think long term because at 70 years old most of those guys aren't going to have to live with the long term affects.
That doesn't make them bad people. I just like middle of the road representatives. Not so young they are naive and not so old they quit caring a few decades ago.

I agree with you, I don't see why there are minimums and no maximums. The last sentence strikes especially true.

To be a member of Congress, the age minimum is 25 and I don't know as I would vote for anyone much younger than that(for congress). I would hope that they would be getting some experience on the local level(town politics) between the ages of 18 and 25.

Awesome, like buttons!!! Now we can be like the Madagascar penguins and just be high fiving each other all day! lol I need to go around now and like every single comment anyone has made about agreeing with me.
But that's not really going to take me very long....lol
Any of you remember this old coot?
Strom Thurmond - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He was still a senator even when he was 100 years old, and led the longest filibuster in history---OPPOSING the civil rights act!
This guy got left in the fridge WAY past his expiration date.

So how about you just don't vote for them if they don't fit your age criteria? I don't know that we need more laws defining it. If South Carolina wanted to keep electing Strom Thurmond even though he didn't represent them well, that should be their perogative. And like I pointed out before, none of that would have prevented this event from happening because this guy is really young.

seriously when the hell did we add a like button? i'm hoping i just haven't cluelessly missed it for a month or something...
More importantly, they need to go check the water up in OK...isn't this the same state that just brought us that idiotic story that their state legislature was trying to (or did?) pass a ban on courts using Islamic law to decide cases???
Yo Oklahoma residents, time to check your politicians and elect some new ones
ETA: and don't think i'm going to be handing out "likes" to just any old post...you gotta work for it

Some people truly are the epitome of stupid.
Personally I think all politicians should be given some sort of test, prove they really are up to date on all the current issues as well as those that will be coming across their desks during their term. Don't know your stuff? Lose your job. End of story. No worrying about age needed. Older folks can be just as up to date on stuff as younger folks. In fact they can care just as much too. The problem isn't in their ability to do so, it's in their desire to do so. I don't think a lot of them, regardless of age, have any desire to truly make this country a better place. I think they call that headuptheass syndrome, but I could be mistaken.
Maybe their next grand idea ought to be appointing someone to create a vaccine for that...or something.

Didn't mean to post and run guys, sorry about that. Wicked freezing rain storm yesterday and today. Took me 2.5 hours to get to work. Need a little time to catch up.
Also just noticed the like button. Awesome. I've heard so many people say they wish there was a like button here, I guess the powers that be listened

The like thingy is inside the posts themselves, tiny print(at least on my screen), I barely noticed it. It's not a button, but the word "like" in blue text.
No clue about the all caps thing.

Waste of money! I mean, I can't think of a single person in my entire lifetime that I've met that would be interested in a diet which includes any kind of fetus!

Paint my name with a heart around it somewhere in your house... Since you're some sort of painting guru now.

I already have a shrine in my closet. I think anything else would just be overkill.
