Inconceivable!! Oh wait, that's a different movie.

So, what do you think would be the reaction of the Twilight fan base if there was another movie that did not have Rob Pattinson playing Edward?

Pattinson says may be too old to return to "Twilight" - Yahoo! Movies

Outrage? Heartbreak? Rioting in the streets and setting things on fire?
Do you think it would be alright, or should they do what it takes to make him look young enough to stay in the role for a while longer?

Too old?

Well, I will admit that I don't really care for the movies or him, but I do think there will be a bad downside to it. Loyal Twilight and Robert fans will probably not like it. Are they going to replace him with another Edward (that's his name in the movie right?) or is it going to take a turn like he dies or something?

I think it would suck. Simply. I found the third movie lacked something the first two held with the change of actress for Victoria... so I can't imagine what would happen if they changed out Edward's actor. The leading cast is important in a series like this...

And just because she writes another book doesn't mean they HAVE to make another movie.

They would recast him. There would be an imposter Edward. Theoretically. We're talking about a movie that doesn't exist yet because it's based on a book that nobody even knows will be written. lol
I just hate recasting in most situations, and the Victoria roll is a perfect example. I hate how in a series of movies you have to guess who's playing each character because they keep getting recast. I had to quit watching the Love Comes Softly movies because the recasting was driving me insane.

Loyal twihards would never let that go on. It would be very disappointing to true fans. As for being too old? Please they can make up the heck out of him if need be. The kid who played Harry Potter got too old. But that's because Harry was a boy and this kid became a young man. In the case of Edward, that doesn't apply.

He still looks young. He needs to get over it.

I had to turn the first movie off, and while reading the books, I pictured Edward as older looking...but that's probably b/c I am older He will do the last movie.

Is Meyers thinking about writing another Twilight book? As he's talking about "if" she writes another book, who knows how long it would be published and when or if it would be turned into a movie? If its a few years, he could probably do it but if its 10 yrs. or so, maybe not.

I think he should play the part, regardless of looking older. That's probably the least problem a Twilight movie has (what with all the bad make-up and all). An older looking Edward would be better than a different one. Part 1 sucked so bad, I don't think things could get any worse at this point.

Truth be told I've never seen any of the movies all the way through, and I don't find him(or any actor/actress) to be all that impressive. I'm in the minority with that one though, lol. So it wouldn't phase me in either direction if he, or anyone, decided to leave, or just not continue. I wasn't impressed with the books and have no real desire to see the movies.

But I can imagine die-hard fans won't appreciate it much, and will likely be one of the things that pushes him back to it(assuming something bigger and better doesn't come along first). Most actors aren't just in it because they love it, the money plays a pretty big role and let's face it, this series(and everything that's spawned from it) is a gold mine for those guys, and gals. They'll likely stretch it out as long as they can, and I don't blame them. Cash cows only last so long. They're better off taking full advantage while they can.
I doubt he'd actually give up that money maker, to be honest. Well, depending on when it actually came out, of course. If it takes too long, someone else will scoop him up for better adventures anyway. It will have to pay a pretty penny to lure him away from it though.

Well I'm a die hard fan, but if she waited more than another 2.. maybe 3 years to do another book, and if they waited more than 3 months to film the movie.. I'd probably lose interest.

The books aren't good enough for her to pull a George R.R. Martin and wait 5 or 6 years between books, in my opinion, and I'm a pretty big fan of the series.

Honestly, I'd RATHER he not try to play it as a 30-something year old. Edward is 17 and he would be 30 (at the youngest). It kind of drives me crazy when people play roles that much younger than they are. Sure make up can do a lot (they had amazing make up artists in Breaking Dawn part 1), but it can't make a 30 year old realistically look 17. In fact, I thought he was showing his age by the first part of Breaking Dawn.

Plus, it just seems like a silly, hypothetical thing to be concerned about. Stephanie Meyers would have to write a book, have it published, give the book a chance to get off the shelves. Someone would then have to write a screen play and then make the movie. I doubt Robert would be the only one not interested or too old to be in this hypothetical new movie.
