What do you think of this article? Name snobbery: If your name doesn't fit, you're not coming in - Parentdish

If she judges my kid based on a name I gave them, I wouldn't want my kids at her house. Talk about being a judgmental snob...

Just when I thought nothing could suprise me, I'm speechless on this one. There are certainly names that I don't care for but to judge a child or anyone based on a name before getting to know them is beyond extremely petty.

I don't think I'd want my kids to be friends with her kid. Who know what other kind of crap she is filling their heads with.

On the other had I hope this article was more of a joke.

Makes sense to me how you could judge a child by the name, like the teacher example. If you know a REALLY horrible Jack, you're never going to name your child Jack, and if you are introduced to another boy/man named Jack your subconscious will probably make you think of the first Jack and you may treat him differently, on purpose or not. Kinda the same way that if you think you got food poisoning from chicken breast you may never eat chicken breast again.
There are some names I would never use, and have my opinion about, but it's not my job to make sure my kids avoid all their friends whose names sound like they belong to a dog.

I had to close the page out I was starting to get pissed off. I want to kick that lady in the taco. Or take the other out and shoot her instead. The nerve of some people! I'm not a fan of all the names I hear, but I would never be such a name snob. I bet her little royal princess will grow up to be just as bad or worse as the stereo type she's giving these kids.

I want to know what her kid is named. I bet it's horrible.

I think this article is kind of tongue-in-cheek. I do see a bit where she is coming from though. Don't you hear some names and just KNOW exactly what the parents are like? I'm not going to give any examples here, because I don't want to offend anyone, but I'm sure you can think of some examples.

ugh... I hate people who think they're better than others just based on name.

Reme is named after a Weapon's line and it's accessories. Our top girls name is from a fantasy novel, top boys name is pretty traditional. I guess that would make DH crazy?

Too bad that B with an itch wouldn't put her kids' names out there. My guess is that they would fall under what some people would consider "snobby" or "preppy" names.

I want examples!

Our names are all over the place. ds1's is English, ds2's is Russian, our next baby will be Italian. People must either think we're crazy/dumb, or my kids have different fathers. I'm pretty sure ds2 wouldn't be allowed to play with her kid, but that is probably because she can't pronounce his name and you just know that this woman can't have that.

Her daughter is probably Victoria or Elizabeth. I noticed she is from the UK and only likes proper upper class UK names. I think she has a grudge with the Irish.

I don't know where we fall. Abigail would be elitist? Kacie and Chase would be....who knows? Jacob would be traditional, old fashioned, or too common? We just picked what we agreed on

We'd likely fail too...

Alexis-pretty traditional, nothing fancy, but certainly not distinguished.
Alyssia-most people don't even know what her name is-as they can't pronounce it, judging by the way this person talks, she'd likely think it's some odd hippy style of Alyssa or something stupid(it's not even close, lol)
Leo-shortened to that people don't usually have anything at all to say(this lady would likely call it some kind of trendy thing, she's clearly an idiot), but his actual name is Leonard-which most people associate with a little old grandpa. My guess is she might find that one distinguished-because it's more old fashioned, but it's not a name he goes by so she wouldn't know it, lol.

My son's full name is William Walter Wyatt. I think she would be okay with me until she saw the Wyatt. Then it would be all confusing to her. Can he come in? Is he from a good "William" family or from a "Wyatt" family? Would Wyatt be on her list of banned children?

BTW, we call my son Little Billy. His daddy is Billy too.

Oh lovely! I'm sure she'd ban my kiddo. I mean, what kind of mother must I be if I named my son Maximus!? Honestly, I just thought it would sound good over the loud speaker at a high school football game.

Courtney is an unusual name? Whaaa?

I have a Rhys. Hahaha. I guess none of my kids would be allowed at her house. I think I'll cry and rush out and change their names to something acceptable.
