I just dont get it? I mean the military thread got me thinking about how when I was a kid my family doctor was found out to be a homosexual (and he was like 60 lol) and there was SO many people who stopped going to him he had to retire early. My aunt even said to my mom "arent you scared he's going to try something with Scott? (my brother)" My mom said, "no more than I'm scared a non-gay man would try something with one of my daughters!" I've heard other people comment on simmilar stuff like they assume that if someone is a homosexual they are going to go attack ANYONE who is of the same sex as them. I mean come ON, they have attractions in the same way heterosexual people do, just to thier own gender. If they are going after children they have issues that had nothing to do with thier sexual preference. If anything homosexuals I've found to be MORE appropriate in most setting. (there are a few not like that) They know they are in the minority and are very respectful of that. It just ticked me off cause some stuff was said. And like showering and sleeping with someone who is a homosexual? If they KNOW you are strait then its not like they are going to do anything, or even make it obvious if they DO happen to look. You can be anywhere and have someone "lust" after you. Who cares what thier sexual preference is.

ITA. I was just told that someone would feel uncomfortable living with me because I'm bi in the other debate, and it made me feel like total crap, like I was disgusting and couldn't be trusted or something. Now I've gotten a bit of a taste of what gay people face on a daily basis it makes it that much more heartbreaking

THANK YOU!!! That thread was beginning to get to me... i'm so glad i'm not alone in thinking that thinking is absurd! Just gets me that people would never feel okay saying these things about any other minority group, but somehow for homosexuals, it's still okay! One day, i think our children's children are going to look back on us the same way we look back on our ancestors who advocated slavery, and women not voting... I just wonder how ashamed some people would feel at that point.

I agree.

My brother is gay and I am bisexual, and it would pain me greatly if either of us were treated differently because of that.

Thank you so much for posting that! I think that for some reason some people think that being gay a deviant and with that comes other deviant behavior such as molestation. Like you said they have attractions the same as heterosexuals. If a homosexual person molests a child it isn't because they are homosexual it is because he or she is a sick individual.

I think those comments are made out of ignorance and fear. Just another convinient (and pathetic, if you ask me) way to discredit homosexuals. I don't know many homosexuals IRL, but I don't think their sexual behavior is any different than anyone else's. C'mon! Aren't there promiscous heterosexuals? Please, they abound! It has nothing to do with sexual orientation. The same goes for paedophilia.

I completely agree. That is the most ridiculous "stereotype" I can imagine. Stupid people amaze me with what they will come up with.

Agreeing also .... Nice thread!!!

I was actually very concerned when my nephew came out and he was in the Navy. I had nightmares of him being pushed overboard and no one every seeing him again. It should never be like that. The majority promotes that at the moment.
