Two or three drinks is all it takes to be over the legal limit (depending on your size, etc). Have you ever had two or three drinks and driven home, or driven somewhere else?

I guess I am just annoyed by the Paris Hilton thread responses about how she should rot in jail suposedly, when I honestly don't know anyone who HASN'T driven with a BAC over the legal limit at one point or another. Maybe you just didn't get caught.

nope. I used to drink when I was in HS, but after a few particular bad instances I quit drinking all together. I haven't drank any alcohol since October 2002.

Yes once. I had one drink though, not a few and I drove a few blocks home. It was one time and one time only. I was completely stupid and irresponsible to have done so and I should have gotten a DUI. I hate drinking and driving and I was an idiot to do it.

Yes, I have. I was young and dumb before, I won't defend it or justify it. Just because I didn't get caught doesn't excuse my behavior, and it certainly doesn't mean that others who do get caught should get away with it. It is illegal and it is dangerous, I am lucky in the times that I did it that I didn't kill myself or someone else. Getting a DUI should be the least on the list of concerns when deciding to drink and drive.

Never. I literally never tasted alcohol until I was 21 (fear of alcoholism that runs in my family stopped me from any college drinking). I only drink with dh, and almost always at home.. and its maybe once a month. I enjoy a drink, I dont feel guilty but we def dont drive if we do.

Honestly yes, many many times. In my past I was a very irresponsible person, and it is a miracle that I didn't get a DUI or even worse, hurt or kill someone in the condition I used to get behind the wheel

Unlike Ms. Hilton, I take ownership of this and I blame no one but myself. I SHOULD have gone to jail. Looking back, I'm disgusted by my actions. I don't make excuses for it, and neither should anyone else. Anyone who gets caught driving under the influence should get mandatory jail time, period. I know waaay too many people who have gotten away with just a slap on the wrist and see a DUI as almost a rite of passage.

(For the record, I don't even drink anymore, let alone drink and drive)

I have too, quite a few times when I was a young and stupid teenager. I should have gotten caught, and yes I would have deserved to go to jail for it.

I wish beyond all things that towns and cities would adopt the same thing that usually happens during major holidays.. where you can get a free taxi if you've been drinking.. I think it should be year round. I would pay for that with taxes with no problems

Nope, never have. I've had a legal amount of alcohol and driven though. Actually, I'm usually the DD b/c I don't drink all that often, and sometimes I'll have (literally) half a beer and then bring everyone home a few hours later. But 1/2 a beer definately doesn't impair me.

That would be a good idea. It would save money (less people to keep in jail).

I also think bars should have breathalyzers at the door, so before you leave you can check yourself, and if you're over you can sit and drink water for an hour or more, and wait for your BAC to go down to legal levels. Bars should do this as a courtesy for their patrons. I know of ONE bar that does this. They should all do it.

I voted NO. I will not even drink 1 drink, or even a half of a drink and then get behind the wheel of a car. I might think I'm "ok" to drive, but alcohol does impair your judgement... so in reality, how would I really know? I'm not willing to take that risk. Not for myself, not for my family, and not for anyone else who might be out on the road at that time. I do not agree with drinking & driving in any circumstance and I don't think anyone else has the right to put my family in danger when they make the very stupid, irresponsible decision to get behind the wheel of a car after they have had alcohol.

No, I have never had more than one drink and then driven a car. And I've only done that once. Two of my high school classmates were killed because of drunk driving. One of the kids was driving drunk (back in 10th gradE), and ran into a tree at 55 miles per hour and had to have both legs amputated before he died. The other, who I grew up with, was killed instantly in November when a friend who was drunk ran the car they were in into a pole at a high speed. It haunts me to this day. If I drink I take a cab or get a ride home from someone who is sober. And my favorite place for margaritas is walking distance from my house so if I go there I don't need to drive or have a ride home.

Many people don't know what it takes to be over the limit. They think DUI means "drunk" driving. They don't feel drunk, so they think they are fine to drive. It only takes a few drinks to be over the limit.

I have one drink a few times and then driven home. DH and I have gone out to dinner where I had a margarita and he had a beer and one of us drove home.

I have never driven while feeling even slightly intoxicated or after having more than one drink. If after having that margarita, I had been pulled over, and found to be intoxicated I would have deserved my punishment.

I say take responsibility for your actions. What Paris did was wrong and she should take her punishment.
