What do you think of taping the baby's birth? When my daughter was born, I didn't do it. I thought it would be disgusting to watch and that I'd want to destroy the tape anyway. It's one of my biggest regrets. I taped my son's birth. The angle isn't straight up my tail pipe, though. The camera was on a tripod by my head. I'm so glad that I have it. I watch it all the time and have shown it to my friends, mom and sisters.

I love watching babies being born. It makes me sappy and happy all at once. I did not with any of mine because my husbands could not stomach it... Wimps!!!

On an even sicker note... my dad taped both of my births! I wanted my husband by my side so my mom and dad were in the room both times. My dad videotaped and my mom took pictures!

So many people ask my dad how in the world he could tape it and his response is always that it isn't something sexual. It is natural. Most people wouldn't feel comfortable in that situation, but it didn't matter to me. It was a birth... not porn!

Anyhow, I am so glad that I have both births on tape. I watch them from time to time and if my kids want to see them someday, I will more than happy to show them the tapes. We do keep the tapes separate from all the others, though!

**I always felt sorry for the poor teenage boys who were developing our birth pictures. Both videos and pictures are up close and personal! FULL FRONTAL! Haha!

Our hospital won't allow taping the birth--I guess so there's no evidence if they drop the baby on the floor or something like that. I didn't tape either of my previous ones, and I'm glad because I have pretty good memories and those memories would probably be erased if I actually saw the baby coming out of my nether parts.

If others want to do that, more power to them. We personally did not want to do it. I think it's because we just wanted it to be me and DH at the birth, and nobody else but the doctor and nurses. So since we wanted to be alone when it actually happened, who would we want to show a video to?

We do have some still pictures of right after, but we just didn't feel the need to have footage of the actual birth. And both our kids' births are still so clear in our minds that we have no regrets about it at all.

I don't plan to tape the birth. I've told John he will lose a limb if he even LOOKS in that region while I'm giving birth. I personally don't want to tape it because I'm far too grossed out by things of this sort.

I like watching footage of a birth when they don't show anything, like on a Baby Story. I totally give props to the women that don't care about being taped during birth. I couldn't do it!

I made sure to tell every single nurse that came into our hospital room that if they saw DH sneaking out the video camera, that he was to be BANNED from the hospital. I made sure to warn DH adequetely ahead of time - I started at 5 weeks, when we found out we were expecting lol It's not the fact of being video taped that bugged me - it's the fact that I don't trust DH wouldn't whip it out when he gets a little tipsy to show his friends, or bring it to the family BBQ at the in-laws. He's really proud of me for giving birth, and very proud of our daughter But there are definately other ways to show you're proud than showing your wife's vagina (will that get beeped? lol) to the world.

DH stayed completely up by my head the whole time ( I had a c-section) so I didn't have to worry that he'd tape it. Had I ended up being able to have a vaginal birth...he STILL would NOT have taped it or taken any pictures!! No one (and I mean NO ONE) needs to see that!!

Part of the reason that I wanted my births taped was because (I know you all are going to puke! ) I wanted to see what happened! I think giving birth is awesome.

Before I knew I was going to end up with a section...I think one main reason I didn't want anyone "watching" or taping was that i was afraid I was going to poop on the table! My cousin's husband still teases her about that. As normal as that is...I sure wouldn't want to watch a video of it.

When I birth I want to be alone with my DH. No strangers and no camera for me, thank you. I think that is because when my first was born, there was a team of seven medical personel, my dad, both of his parents, and my DH in the room. I still can't believe the hospital allowed so many spectators at a high-risk, premature delivery! My brand new FIL ended up standing just behind the doctor. Later when I realized that, I couldn't look him in the face for the longest time.

So if it is just me and DH, he sure as heck better not be focusing on a camera!

We wanted to, but my DH was far too involved in the birth to hold a camera. He caught the baby and that may have been hard to do while holding a camera I have some good pictures, but did not video tape. I am absolutely not opposed to that though!

My DH is in the medical field (PA) and did an OB rotation, so he thinks births are the coolest. Luckily, he's not grossed out by anything - and I mean anything. He told me he wants to videotape our birth(s), which would be fine with me. But I would prefer there not be much or any "under the sheet" stuff!! I kinda want to know what it looks like, and then again I kinda really DON'T!! LOL!!

I think its awsome and I have always regretted not taking any pictures of my kids birth.Showing my vagina during birth isnt something I could ever feel ambaressed about, because its so far from sexual at that precise moment (all swollen and bloody lol).I mean,we are pushing a human being into the world and that is so amazing on so many levels that Id actually want to show it to everyone!!!
Whilst I was giving birth to my daughter,a guy walked into the room and got a huge close up of my privates, and later I was told that he was someone elses husband and had got lost whilst looking for his wifes birthing room.I didnt care....
If I ever get pregnant again,I will take pics and video (if I can get someone else in there to do all that lol) of the birth and I wont have any problems with showing anyone who dares to ask me how it went.
Also,I think its a great thing to have for your kids...later on they can actually see them selfs being born and that has got to be the coolest thing in the world to be able to show your child when he/she is ready.
Iv searched for birth videos on youtube and sat and watched LOTS of them because they make me happy (Im TTC,what can I say? lol),and my kids watch them with me too.Theres nothing sexual or embaressing about birth, its beautiful,so its something I would share with no problems at all..I hope to star in one of my own soon!!!

The birth of our first was taped; my dad taped it. With our youngest, ha, we have roughly 5 minutes of footage. The tape ran out the push before her birth. It would have been boring anyhow. Only 47 minutes of "labor" and a precipitous second stage.

ITA!

Unfortunately for me, she came out so fast that we didn't even get a picture. **CRIES** My mom was in charge of the video camera and our digi cam but she wasn't taping the entire thing (how could you? it was 14 hours long). I was only pushing for 30 mins and all of a sudden Taylor came out in one contraction with only 3 pushes (mostly involuntary). We got some great pictures immediately after when she was laying between my feet where you can still see that Im on all fours, but I REALLY wanted a picture of her actually coming out. I am still pretty upset by the fact that I will never see her entrance into the world.

To those of you who didn't want someone in there besides your husband so you think taping isn't an option, I have one word for you : TRIPOD! We just set it up before hand, and when it was time to go, DH just pressed a button.

I would have loved to have taped mine too but the hospital didn't allow it. From the moment you start pushing until after the apgar there can't be any photos or video.
