Well I didn't know this board existed when we were trying to conceive this little one. Since I do know this board exists now I thought I would share my info to possibly help another.
We have two girls who are 8 & 7 years old. They both were unplanned but very much welcomed pregnancies. I love my girls and thank them everyday for being born when they were. After our last was born we just knew it was not the right time to try for another one. With hubby going to school, graduating, moving & starting a new job. Well in January of this year we decided that if we were going to have another one we had better get on that train and soon. As our oldest will be 9 in November.
We wanted a boy so bad and I read some stuff on the internet that said if you have sex closer to ovulation that you have a higher chance of having a boy. So I bought clear blue easy ovulation predictor sticks/kits & a clear blue easy fertility monitor. We were not holding anything back. I started taking the opk's around cycle day 11-12. I took one test in the morning around 7-9am & 9-11pm at night. When I would notice the lines getting alittle darker I would up my tests to 3 a day. I would take them at 7-8am, 2-4pm & 10-11pm. At the same time I was also using the fertility monitor at 8am in the morning. I upped my tests to 3 a day because some ladies can have a short surges an can miss them altogether.
When I would get a positive on my opk's and/or a peak reading on the monitor hubby and I would have sex that night & the next. There can be months where the monitor wont give you a peak reading at all, I had one. We still tried that month, but it didn't work. I ovulate 24hrs after I get a positive. What was really hard was restraining from sex in the beginning of the cycle. I didn't even want to have sex with a condom, as I didn't want it messing with my ph balance and what ever else.
My husband travels all over the US for work. The cycle we got pregnant I got a positive the night before he was suppose to leave. So we had sex that night unfortunately we weren't able to have sex the next night, that I would have preferred to do. I didn't think the cycle worked. My husband said that I was pregnant and it was a boy even before I got a positive. When I started seeing the faint positives I didn't believe them, I made him pee on a test and he willing did so for me.
At 13wks I had some spotting so I had an ultrasound and the tech said at that time she was 85% sure it was a little boy. At our big ultrasound at 19wks 5day, it was confirmed it is a little boy. I hope this story gives faith to those mommas trying for a little boy. I am not saying that this is the fool proof way, but it sure helped us.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Good luck.
