Hi,

I have a 5 week old that has had red (and not red but not a white head either... they are skin colored and you cant even really see them unless you are up close to him) bumps (looks like a heat rash or prickly heat) on his face, neck, behind his ears and on some of his body like his legs and arms for a couple of weeks. I called the MD and he said it was baby acne. But I know newborns can get eczema as well. How can you tell? I don't want to take him to the docotr until his 8 week appt unless I really have to? It doesn't really seem to bother him all that much, but Im such a worrier being a first time mother! Anybody have any advice??

It sounds like baby acne to me. Both of my children had that and my oldest had eczema along with it. You should be able to tell a difference. Eczema is more red and raised in clumps. Acne is like little bumps. Plus, the eczema will generally make them very uncomfortable. If he doesn't seem to be itchy or like it's bothering him, I wouldn't worry about it.
