I like her. Very thourough. Very patient. Listened to us. Asked us what we thought about everything. Cool!
So... today he got a TB test and another CBC lab. She's concerned that his white count is dropping, but those lab results are a month old, so she wants to see what today's is. Actually, we should get that result this afternoon. We're also doing an abdominal u/s at 1:30 today. I assume she's looking at his spleen, but she didn't say. She said he has just one lymph node in his neck that is the size of a quarter. Usually, she wouldn't be concerned, but because he's had fever for 3 months, she's interested in seeing what the labs say. Also, because we have a family history, she's running an ANA and rheumatologic factor test. No one in the family has HIV, but she wants to be 100% sure he didn't get pricked with a dirty needle in the hospital or something (LOL), so she asked if we'd be offended by getting him tested. Um... no! It's not like he's doing drugs or sleeping around. Sure, test him! I don't care! I don't know if that was done today or not. I didn't see it on the lab form, but I may have missed it. At some point this week, she also wants us to make an appt with the infectious disease doc (the one the other ped ignored in the first place!).
So, no answers yet, and it's possible the fever really IS normal (hope so), but at least she's listening and running tests. We go back on Thurs for his 1 year well-check. If everything looks alright, he'll get his vaxes. If anything looks odd, she wants to hold off on getting any shots for now.
White count still too low but slightly higher than last time, abdominal ultrasound normal. Waiting for results for lymphocytes, TB, ANA, rheumatoid factor, strep, and sed rate. He still "feels" fine. Still playful, eating, etc. Temp at the office was 100.3. Currently 100.1. The saga continues! Today is day 97 of a fever over 100.2.
