Have you ever seen the infomercials on this program? What are your thoughts? My sister mentioned getting it for my niece (she never did) but to me it seems all memorization, and no phonics learning. Just wondered what you thought?

Pure garbage! I've always thought that, but now that I've seen people using it, I'm even more convinced. Kids are memorizing a picture (a.k.a. sight words), but they're not learning how to break down the sounds. They're not learning "how to read", because they can't pick up something they've never seen and read it. When you teach phonics first and then fill in the gaps with non-phonetic sight words, kids will be able to read anything.

I have never used it but I had one coworker who said she used it a long time ago with her then-baby. I am not a proponent of flashcard type things though... loved the book "Einstein Never Used Flashcards," sums up my "parenting/teaching" philosophy well.

I am sure some kids who like tv, like it...

Agreed, sounds terrible. I'm a fan of teaching your kids the alphabet, then the sounds all the letters make, then putting sounds together to make words. Sitting together with a simple book and reading together. All this other stuff seems like parents wanting a "fast-food" solution to teaching their kids to read. For me, you have to just go with the basics. It may take longer but is more solid in the end.

I haven't seen it, but I am guessing I would dislike it.

Nothing beats daily story-time with your kids! Reading quality picture books, poetry, rhymes and non-fiction books!
