I set up a conference with Erin's teachers for Thursday.

Any advice on how to tactfully ask them to challenge her more?

No words of wisdom on tact, but I'd especially make sure they know the difference between "extra" work and "more challenging" work.

You can find a lot of great stuff in books like this: Amazon.com: Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom: Strategies and Techniques Every Teacher Can Use to Meet the Academic Needs of the Gifted and Talented (9781575423296): Susan Winebrenner M.S.: Books

Here's her website: Susan Winebrenner | Differentiation of instruction, education

This is wonderful, too: http://www.susanwinebrenner.com/hand...nge_strats.pdf

Thanks!! Great website and love the book. I wish her teachers would read it. The thing I hate about public school is that if she couldn't read or were struggling to be AT GRADE level - there are so many resources available. Since she is on the other end of the spectrum there is nothing. Grrrr.
