Erin got her first B on her report card. She was not happy. However, she ended with a 90 in the class (93 is an A) and this was for Algebra. This teacher is moving quickly through the curriculum and says he is pushing the kids as much as he can. (It's a very small class) This is one class that she doesn't know everything in ~ so I am fine with a B. At least I know she's not bored in that one class. But she was not a happy camper to officially see her first B on a report card.

LOL!!! I'd rather earn a B than be handed an A, anyway! Good for her!

Ani gets mad if her grade is anything less than a 95. I think she'd die if she had a B on her report card lol

OTOH, I do not like schools that do 93+ for an A. My cousin got screwed by a high school that did that. Even though the grading scale is on the transcripts, it didn't matter. She was rejected for early admit to UVA because her GPA was not a 4.0 or higher (her high school ALSO did not weight grades and she was talking all Honors and AP classes). She had had two B's in all of high school and both were between 90 and 92 so would have been A's in other schools in the same state. It turned out okay. She still got into UVA and got a full ride, but she was SO upset over not getting that early admit, especially since some of her friends who were not in honors and AP classes got in on early admit. She had wanted to go to UVA her whole life (she was born and raised in VA). Her high school changed to the typical 90+ for an A a year or two after she graduated. They also started weight honors and AP classes like most high schools do.

Is it possible that she could end up with an A overall since the grade was a high B?

I guess it depends on her last marking period grade. It's possible I suppose.

I am an optimist, Shari, and since it is so close, I really hope she does end up with an A.

I also don't like the weighted scale. I had just one class (AP English) like that in high school (because that's the only AP class they offered back then), and it was weighted. It really screwed up my GPA.

... of course, I also had a college professor who gave blanket C's to everyone, and since it was part of my major, I had him 5 times. That dropped my college GPA from 3.5 to 3.1.
