This is the first year that I've added books to Ben's curriculum. (Daniel isn't reading chapter books yet, so I let him read anything he wants.) I assign Ben a book per week (appx 30 min per day during school time) that I feel he can finish in a total of 2-3 hours, but he's also able to choose extra books to earn xbox time. He gets 1 minute of xbox for 1 minute of extra reading. He doesn't earn minute-by-minute time for assigned books, but he does get a bonus hour for every chapter book completed. I had to do that because he reads so fast that he was getting discouraged. He'd read a couple of books but only earn a couple hours of xbox. Now I reward him for both speed and comprehension.

Anyway! Last week, he read Around the World in 80 Days. This week, I've assigned The Wizard of Oz, and he's also chosen to read The Red Badge of Courage on his own.

Adrian is reading lots of logos. It's funny how many he can recognize.

Fritz reads level 1 readers to himself and level 2 to me.

Cameron is reading the fourth Hank Zipzer book (it's about a dyslexic 4th grader, just like him) and Famous Legends in school. On his own he's listening to a lot of audiobooks. He's going through them like crazy.

Ani is reading Michael Vey 2: Rise of the Elgen for fun. She's reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for our book club. She'll be reading Huckleberry Finn in school when she starts 9th grade next month.
