Hey guys. I guess I would be considered new to this forum since it's been about 3 years since I've been on here. I was an original 2006 mommy with a different name. Couldn't remember my log in lol. Anyway,my 7 year old will be going into 1st grade this year (she was already held back one year...long story) and she has always seemed to have trouble learning. I've worked with all types of learning disablilities in the past and all signs seem to point to dyslexia for her. Do you guys know of any place I can get a free screening test to see if she is. I have searched all over the net to find something and came up short. Just looking for information that could help her. I don't know what else to do. I don't want her held back again.
Federal law (IDEIA) states that school districts must evaluate students and issue a report to parents within 60 days of receiving signed permission to evaluate. Call your local school district. Request a full psychological evaluation and a full speech-language evaluation (specifically request phonological awareness testing).
