My son Shane is 11 and in 5th grade he is ADHD and Bipolar with emotional impairment. He is at a 1st grade reading level and writing level. I have tried everything to help him that I can think of but because of him being emotionally impaired he gets very frustrated quickly and angry and when he gets like that nothing helps. He is in a very good IEP setting at school but even they are having a very difficult time helping him because of his frustration.
It is so hard to see him struggling and getting so frustrated with his school work he so badly wants to be at the same level as his peers. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to help bring up his reading level and writing skills????
I am so lost and it hurts so bad to see him like this. He constantly says he is stupid and can't do the work and we tell him all the time that he is very smart and can do the work. I just don't know what else to do
He is also going through grieving right now due to my baby being stillborn in August at 40 weeks and 1 day gestation. So him losing his baby brother has not helped with his emotional problems at all.
