I have been watching my friends children for a couple weeks now while she goes to her classes. Her youngest son who is 4 was recently diagnosed with autism. He peels paint off the walls at my house and if put in time out he will try to hit his head off the wall. I don't think I am giving him the stimulation he needs and I worry he will hurt himself. He tries to tell me what he needs but studders severely and gets frustrated if he can't get it out.
I was hoping a mommy could help me to understand how to work with an austic child since his mom is still trying to learn herself.
Hi, I dont know if you still need help. I actually do this for a living...go into homes, schools, daycares and help adults understand the Autisic mind PM me and maybe I can give you and your friend some helpful advice.
