I think they have, especially with my other two.

With my oldest daughter, I realize what an intelligent girl and great student she is and don't take it for granted, looking back, I used to. And I realize that math not coming as easy as her other subjects to her isn't laziness, it's that she has a harder time grasping it. And realizing she needs help in math to keep up her good grades. And convincing DH of it.

I see how hard my son has struggled to get to grade level, he WAS able to catch up. I may not have appreciated it so much if I hadn't seen Lizzie struggle.

It's a balancing act with Lizzie, knowing when to push her and when to ease up when it comes to learning and life. Sometimes I'm quite human and lose my patience and I feel guilty.

Seeing my daughter struggle has made me a better teacher. I was already an LD teacher when she came into my life. It has made me more compassionate and I can really relate with my parents.

I don't know if has made me a better mom but I know that I am more aware of how my kids are doing now. I know when I look at Lyndsey and see how much she is talking and how well she is doing I appreciate it more.

Not as much as I'd like it to. Sometimes I feel like I am a horrible mom because of his learning disability. I find myself getting so frustrated.
