How many teachers do we have on the board? I have noticed that a few of you are teachers/teacher's aids. Do you find that your teaching experience helps you with your own child? Do you have any tips to share with the rest of us.

I'm a teacher of students with learning disabilities. Yes it has helped to be a teacher and a parent of a child with learning difficulties.

I am a para-educator (teaching assistant) for kids with many different disabilities including LD, Autism, cognitive impairments, emotional impairments, speech and language impairments, you name it.

I was a mom of an LD kid before I became a Para, so for me, I'd have to say that my experience as a mom has made me better at what I do at work. Honestly, I learn things in both capacities that help me be better at both.

Pick away!

I can't speak for others, but I know that I wish I had had someone like me to turn to when I was dealing with things with my oldest!
