I am totally nervous about Austin returning back to school next year. He's been homeschooling the past two years. Wondering if anyone else has a child in highschool?

My oldest, Sarah, is a HS sophomore. But she's never been homeschooled.

I have two that already graduated.

A friend of mine has a daughter who will be going to public school for the first time this year. She will be a freshman. They send their kids to a private school for K through 8.

I think it's important for new kids to get plugged into some group or activity as soon as they can. It's also helpful if they can meet some of the kids BEFORE school starts. Our school has an orientation day for new students so they can all meet and get to know each other. The orientation is run by student council members, so the new kids also get to meet some of the existing students.

Because the students I worked with last year are going to be freshmen this year, I am planning a bonfire/hayride/party for some of the kids so that my friend's daughter can meet some kids before school starts.

Check with your school to see if they have an orientation for new students.

I knew there were some moms on here with kids your kid's age. Mine are so young. I think the orientation sounds like a good plan.
