How good are your kids at integrating new skills and behaviors they learn? Do they generalize the skills or do they tend to compartmentalize them? ie I do this for this person, or only at a certain time or in a certain situation?

Hunter is a sponge; he remembers a lot more than I give him credit for, but he only does certain things at certain times. For example, his OT has the saying, "Neat or Repeat" when he works with her. She was happy to report that Hunter wasn't needing to redo his work with her, but with his teacher and me, he's not doing the same! So we've been telling him the same thing as the OT.

Thats what is so frustrating for us too, Alexis is sooo compartmentalized. She will do things for only certain people, or only at a certain time, or in a certain way. She has trouble generalizing skills and aplying them to new tasks. Some days its enough to drive me crazy
