How good is your disctrict for special ed? Would you move to a different disctrict if you heard they were better for special ed? Would you not move because of the special ed system where you currently live?

I think ours is pretty good for the most part. I say pretty good because so far, we've gotten everything for dd that we've advocated for. I say for the most part because she wouldn't have the accomodations she has if "we" didn't advocate for her and that sometimes advocating means being very blunt and pushy. I'm not pushy by nature so dh has to help out in that respect. We find that we need to be that way with dr.'s and specialists too.

Oh, I almost missed your question about moving. If Abby was my only child and another school district was better, we probably would but as I have 3 other kids, I don't know...maybe but it would depend. If I was unhappy with special ed for Abby, chances are I would be unhappy over all with the school so moving would be a definite possibility.

So far we have been lucky with our school district, a few snaffus, but we got what we wanted in the end. We are increduibly pleased with her placement (special ed K-2 class within the school district) and she has done so well there, so at this point we would not move out of the district. As long as we push for what we want, we should have no problems. Though if her teacher leaves and is not replaced by someone very similiar, we would consider moving.
