As a lot of you know from my previous post, DH and I aren't on the best of term right now.

So today I am driving home from work (I live about 35 minutes away from work) on a major highway, and I got hit by a friggin deer!!! Not just a deer, a buck. Full size, antlers, you name it. He crossed the oncoming traffic and jumped the median right into the left hand lane where I was travelling, minding my own business.

It appears that my car is a right off - and I just bought it brand stinking new in November. The buck was also a right off.

I am ok, a little sore, but what an experience.

I know that some people believe that everything happens for a reason - but come on!
The insurance company (SHARKS!!) called me tonight to let me know that because I hit an animal, it is automatically my fault, and I have to pay the deductable for either the repairs or the rental car (if my car is written off). This is just stupid. Why don't they go after the deer's family for their share? just kidding.

My DH's friend hunts right around where I got hit, and apparently the land is owned by Ontario Hydro. They refuse to allow hunting (they fine him every time they catch him), so DH's friend said I should call up Hydro and request that they pay my deductable because the population of deer is getting out of hand on their property!!!

The police officer said that I was just lucky that I wasn't in a small car (I drive a small SUV). He said that if I had a smaller car, it would have hit the buck from underneath, and the deer would have surely flung up into my windshield.
Luck.

Well, there's my vent for today.

Never a dull moment.

Alex

Awww. Wow, you're really not having the best of luck lately! I hope things get better for you, that really does suck that you're fully responsible for all damages tho **HUGS**
