Ok we had this problem with the tub drain in the bathroom. If you run the sink water the tub backs up. Our 17 yr old son ran the snake down the tub drain. It did not help. I knew it wouldn't. I said you got to go in the basement. The pipe needs to be opened there and run the snake from the basement.
The blockage is in that part of the pipe. It's what happened last time we had this problem. I tell dh to make our son open up that pipe. Some years back dh did something so it is only finger tight. So it's not hard to open. Of course dh being disabled now. He can't get down to the basement to do it himself. I moan about how it has to be done. No one listens. I said wth. Do I have to spend all our savings on the plumber. Because I'm getting furious the tub is backing up. And you know what the problem is. And it is only a 10 minute at most job to unscrew that section of pipe. Stick the snake in and pull out what is in there. Then I bought this mess drain thing. I figured it's removeable. So when junk gets trapped on it. Just pull that mess thing out. Shake the junk in the garbage. No more backed up drain. Got one on the bathroom sink that catches all the hair etc. great. Nothing down the drain. I left dh another note today before I leave for work. Told him make our son fix the problem as the stuff was coming up really bad in the tub today after I was washing up at the sink.
