Since my migraines where getting so bad and making the Hyperemisis worse. My OB decided that instead of me constantly having to go into L&D for Demerol shots. Non of the prescription migraine medications are okay during pregnancy. I can\'t even take Excedrin cause of the aspirin or Advil. So they decided to put me on a daily dose of percocet plus a beta blocker and Phenergan to combat my nausea. Since I am taking a narcotic daily, my OB wants me to meet with a neonatal specialist to find out the impact the medication is having on the baby now and what he could possibly go through after he is born. Worst case would be withdrawal from the medication. So now not only do I feel like drug addict. But I drive for 40+ minutes on Monday to go to my appointment only to find out that the doctor that was doing my consult had traded shifts with another doctor. Okay so I could have handled that okay, but when the receptionist tracked down the doctor that was on. Not only was she not in house, but she told the receptionist that she didn\'t want to take the appointment because she didn\'t know how my hospital did things. UGH I have already been warned by my OB that I will probally have to deliver at the same hospital that I am doing my consult at as they have a full and better equipped nursery. If I deliver at my hospital and something goes wrong and I need a c-section and then they have to transfer him I would end up being separated from him for around 3 days. She was supposed to tell me how they do things at THAT hospital to prepare me. She just didn\'t want to come back to the hospital even though she was on till 4pm. So I wasted not only my time but my moms as well as she went with me. Now we have to go back on Thursday to meet with a different doctor that is coming in just to meet with us because he feels so bad about what happened. Should I write a letter or call someone and complain about that DR. What should I do with this situation?

PS: I so wish there was something I could do other then the daily narcotic, if anyone knows of something that would be better for me and especially the baby I would appreciate it.

i hate when they don't call to reschedule!

as a migraine sufferer, i feel your pain, but i don't know how to help the only current headache remedies i'm doing are: nice contour pillow to sleep on; mouth guard so i don't grind my teeth; mid day long naps; those sticky headache patches. all that tends to keep them away, but when they come, it's rather useless.

I have constant headaches all day EVERYDAY. Mine get so bad to the point where my neck and shoulders hurt so bad Im in tears half of the time.. When I look down I can feel all the muscles in my back and neck pulling.. So not fun. I rarely have a day without pain.. The most I take is tylenol and thats it. Doctors wont give me anything more than that because they say I shouldnt need anymore than tylenol.. (what the he!! do they know?) I just suffer with the pain.. I honestly hate pain medications so even if they offered me something I dont know that I would take it.. A few things to try.. Alternate warm and cold compresses where your head is hurting.. Try some of those thermal patches that you just stick on your forehead.. tylenol.. See what herbal tea's are ok for you during pregnancy and try some of those for your headaches.. When I was pregnant with my daughter my headaches were 10 times worse than they are now if that is even believable.. The only thing I took was tylenol and did the warm/cold compresses.. I was in constant pain but, I thought it was better for the baby if I struggled through it verses being on a lot of pain meds..

I have chronic migraines as well, and despise takign the medications for them. They end up knocking me out for two days, then Im groggy for the rest of the week after having them. So what Ive been doing, after having it recommended by a friend, is this....I bought one of the cold spa masks - the ones with the eye holes you can see out of (let me find a link to one so you know what Im talking about). I store it in the fridge until I get a migraine. Once the migraine starts, I pull it out and put it on, and lay in a dark quiet room for about half an hour. That usually heads off most of my migraines, and even if it doesnt stop it completely, it lessens the severity in a big way. Ive not had to take migraine meds for a few months now, since I started using this method and its helped immensely.
Use a mask like this

I have had migraines my whole life, and they were horrible during my pregnancy. After my first trimester, my docs put me on Fiorcet. It is tylenol. caffine, and butalbital (a pain killer). I took 3-4 of them per week. The risk of my body being stressed with the migraine outweighed the risk of me taking the meds. I also had to go into the hospital for not one, but two shots of demerol for one doozy migraine.

I hope you feel better. PM me if you like, I have a bunch of tricks I can share with you if you have not tried them already.
