I am starting to wean Matthew.

It's bittersweet. I feel like I need to give this baby growing inside of me a smooth start. With my history of loss, and BFing causing the uterus to contract, I feel in my heart it is the right thing to do. Plus with all the bleeding I have been having. It's too great a risk for me.

We have started giving him bottles from 11pm-5am when he wakes up. He has been waking 2-3 times in that time and will only take an ounce or two and fall back asleep. During the day he goes 4-5 hours sometimes. I am down to 9-5oz bags in the freezer.

I just gave him an ounce of regular milk and he right away threw it up. I think maybe we will go to formula for a couple months and take it from there. I have his 1 yr apt on Feb 10th. I wish it was sooner. I would like to hear what his doc suggests. I don't think it's a milk allergy he has had foods (like mac and cheese and soups) with milk in it.

Ugh... now he is crying and needs a nap.....

Hi Bobbie

I wonder if it was the taste difference that made him throw up? As you say he has had dairy. But perhaps not in such a quantity though? Would you consider mixing formula with cow's milk and gradually reduce the formula? Or even BM/cow's milk? Say 1 9oz might do his day's worth of feeds, but mixed with cow's milk?
