Been MIA from Just Mommies for quite a while. Started missing the advice from REAL mommies, and came back for help.

My son is 17 1/2 months, and still wants to nurse all night, every night. We're down to one or less naptime feeding (sometimes, he'll lay down and fall asleep all on his own at naptime), but he continues to scream and cry when I won't at night. I always end up giving in, because I have no assistance with him.

We live with my mother, who works full time (she sleeps with a sound machine, and can barely hear him at night), and my 14 year old sister (who sleeps like a rock anyway). Neither can help me out at night when he won't go to sleep. I have breastfed consistently, up until tonight, unless he refused it (which is EXTREMELY rare), and I do co-sleep (but only because he doesn't seem to sleep well on his own in the crib, and can't seem to fall asleep alone at night).

I'm up right now with him. He's sitting on my lap, drinking at his water-filled sippy cup, giggling away and watching Aladdin. I have tried EVERYTHING, short of driving him around in the car. We've walked around the house, rocked in the rocking chair, left him in his crib, cuddled together in my bed, read a story, watched a movie (on mute), and drank water in his sippy cup. Nothing works.

Help?

Do you mind if I ask a few questions?

Are you working? or are you a full time mom?
Is your child sick?
Is there a major life change going on? Even going through a new developmental stage can make it hard to wean.

If you've tried everything and nothing is working, maybe the time isn't right.
Try again in a few weeks or another month. Sooner or later, it'll happen.
