So Fintan came home with a note from his teacher that said "Just a quick note. I am concerned about some of Fintan's behavior in class lately. Is there anything I should know?"

I found it so vague. What are the behaviors? What do you mean 'is there anything I should know"? I thought maybe she was wondering if there was anything going on at home. DH took it to mean is there something she should know about fintan.

I asked him about school and he said a little guy was pinching him, poking his eye and pushed him over; teacher saw him on the floor and they both got in trouble. He couldn't figure out what else it could be but that is one behavior not a 'lately' thing, more like a 'today' thing.

I called the school as soon as I got the note and the teacher had left for the day. I left a msg at the school and replied to her note asking her to call me.

That's way too vague. Either there is more going on that he doesn't want to admit to, or the teacher is reading into something that's not there. I'm not a fan of vague notes in regards to behavior and grades. I feel that those things need to be addressed in detail. What you think is fine she may not, so there has to be clear communication on both ends to come up with the best solution.

That is weird. I would want more details. Acting out how? He is throwing a huge fit or just not answering? And what is she trying to imply? I hope you can get it resolved. Let us know what happens.

When I call home I try to be specific, I don't send notes home because the high school student would dump them in the trash.

Still nothing. She tried to call yesterday when I was out waiting for the bus but she didn't call my cell. This is stressing me out.

We went through that with Brayden last year and it turned out he was being bullied and acting out in class because of it. I tore a strip of the principal because she knew about it and did nothing. I honestly hate the school my kids are at and that note is the same crap we would get too.

Brayden got a note in late september saying he was struggling ect so I asked what I could do to help and never got an answer. I requested a phone interview and the teacher declined so i said I wanted to see her in person and she told me to wait until mid-october.Well dont ****** tell me my kid is having a problem and expect me to use my telepathy to find out what it is!!

I hope you have better luck with Finatan's teacher.

I can't believe that the teacher wouldn't talk to you and kept putting you off. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh email is a good idea. I know Linda's teacher encourages email which is nice for me. I hope you get some more information so you can help.

I know I check my work e-mail a lot and I get a LOT of parent contact, of course I'm not an elementary teacher, I have 180 students!

Have you heard anything from the teacher yet? I would keep calling and if still no response let the principal of the school know. The note was fague and if it was so important to write this note the she should have called you back by now.

Next week is parent teacher conferences. I got his report card yesterday and there was nothing specific on it (just that he has to be reminded to follow classroom routine). Anyway, I have a scheduled meeting with her next Thursday evening. I am also at the school this Friday volunteering with my DDs class.
