so im mad....i get a phone call from christophers school today at about 11am...and i am told i have to come pick him up ASAP that he has a cold and is coughing alot...which I know he has a cold...like duh i live with him...but i also know that it is just a cold! i know there is a big thing going on with h1n1 but i know that he does not have it...it is just a cold nothing else no fever, chills, no lack of energy or anything just a cod and I get told that I not bring him back to school until he is 100% better or i get him swabed for h1n1 and i am NOT going to go stand in accute care for 8+ hours to get him tested. And I can not afford to take a week off until he is better.....now what?????????
AGH I would be mad too!!! I understand, we have a few cases of H1N1 here in our small town. My kids all have sinus drainage right now. I KNOW that it is their sinuses because I am having the same thing. They are fine but they have a cough and a sore throat so I am always telling everyone dont worry its just their sinuses. I hope he can go back to school I wish I had some idea for you on what you could do.
Schools do prefer you leave them home, I mean I prefer that my kids not come to school with a cold (by that I mean students) cuz I don't want it. I know it is a pain, but it is a pain for everyone else if they get the cold...sorry hun
I think people panic too much... Schools need to read up on certain illnesses... Most illnesses are spread during the incubation period when you are running a fever.. Our school sends kids home for everything...
I think colds are a bit over kill. I understand the h1n1 worries but if I took time off for a cold with my kids I would never work. And I can't afford that. Mine go to daycare. One of them is usually got a runny nose.
i had christopher screened last ngiht by our public health nurse and she sadi that it was just a cold and he has zero h1n1 symptoms so they said he was fine to return to school so off to school he went this morning
