Carter's had all his vac's because I believe they do help prevent diseases. However, I am really nervous about the MMR vax thats coming at 12 months. Maybe it's all the media but I was thinking about pushing it back until he's older, but I know that at that time i'll still be nervous about it! Any other vaxing mama's feel nervous about this one? BTDT moms, did you get the MMR at 12 months or did you delay it? Thanks for the opinions guys!

We got it on time with Eric and will with Danny, especially considering he'll have some extra risk factors with his implants. I had so much fear drummed into me around Eric's first birthday that I was sick when we got the vaccine, and yet I still believed it was the right thing to do. Since then, I've seen some studies coming out that say there is no medical link, despite the amount of circumstantial evidence, so I feel more comfortable.

I'd suggest visiting the Choosing to Vaccinate and the Choosing Not to Vaccinate boards here on JM. They both have some great information available for both sides of the issue so you can make the decision that fits your family and feel more comfortable with it! Good luck, hon!

It's funny that you posted this because I planned on posting the same question.

Caden is pretty much up to date on all his shots. He still has two of them to get at his 9 months that he was supposed to get at his 6 months. I am also very nervous about the MMR because of all the controversy. I do plan on getting the MMR shot for Caden, but plan on ordering it separately and spreading all 3 of them out. Most doctor's do not carry and will not order them separately. I did find this interesting information on a blog about the MMR. I called American Medicine this morning already to get a price on it.

The MMR is one of the vaccines that I have a huge problem with. I feel that Lily suffered a reaction from it. I won't get into all the details, because obviously my experience is just anecdotal evidence... However, if you have the option to space it out and give each vaccine individually (even if it means paying for it yourself) I would do it in a heartbeat.

We're planning on going ahead and getting it for Carrie. Both my other kids had it with no issues, although we did chose to delay Beth's for about a year.

I personally feel that the studies surrounding that vaccine that say there isn't a link were payed for by the drug companies. They have yet to do a non biased study on it. This is why I don't trust them claiming there is no link.

I think the anecdotal evidence is something that should be taken into account too ... especially family history. If either of my boys had any issues with any vaccine, I would absolutely NOT continue with that vaccine for any of my kids. The tough thing is so much of it is dependent on every individual family, genetics, location, situation, etc. If I were a SAHM and my boys weren't in a daycare situation, I feel my plan with vaccines would be much different than it is.

We've gotten all the kids vaccines as the Doc's scheduled them, and we will get the MMR on time as well.

This is very interesting. I might bring this up to my doctor at her 1 year visit. I know that no shots need to be done that day, so its nice to know that i can at least ask, and then weigh my options out from there. thanks for the link.

Alton won't receive the MMR. I will have three different vaccines and give 2 months between each dosing and he won't receive these shots until after the age of 5. While I understand medical studies claim there is no link, I have 2 cousins with autism and 1 with asperger's syndrome who received the MMR. Boys in my family born prior to 1988 never received the shot and have no signs of Autism. We follow a modified vaccine schedule just to play it safe. Now if you don't have any of these problems in your family then I'm sure whatever schedule for vaccines you choose will be fine but like I said the risk is just so much higher for boys in my family, so I have to play it safe. I do think vaccines are important so Alton receives most of them but very spaced out and some are eliminated, such as the chickenpox vaccine!

What shot is that? Im asking because all 3 of my kids have always been up to schedule with ALL of their shots. The last one as a baby is a 5 months old and the next is at 15 months old..there´s none at 12 months so I have no idea what shot you are talking about.

Ava is on 2-3 steroids at any given time for very long periods, so she will not get the MMR for a while. MMR is a 3 live virus vaccine.
Her vaccine schedule is crazy.

My older kids had the MMR vaccine. I have a son with autism, but I don't believe a vaccine caused it.

We have no family history of any problems with any vaccines and Hunter has had all of his with no problems so Elijah will receive it, and get it on time.
