So at what age do you think its okay to bring your child to the movies? A friend invited me and Elizabeth to see "UP" yesterday at the movies... but I told them I definitely didn't think Elizabeth was ready to sit in a movie theater YET... They told me their child was about 18 months when they started taking them.... but I don't know. I know back when my stepdaughters were 3 years old, it was still a CHORE to take them to the movies!
At what age would you take your LO to a movie?
Have you taken your LO into a movie yet?
I wouldn't bring a child to the movies until they were old enough to enjoy it, to understand the movie and what was being said. We were thinking of taking Natasha to the movies for the first time for her 3rd birthday in 3 months, but I honestly don't think she's ready. We'll probably wait till the girls are maybe 3.5-4 years. So no, definitely not taking Veronika.
We actually just saw Up with DH on Saturday and it was GREAT! But without the kids

I would probably say at a minimum of 2 years old but Ethan didn't really start going and paying attention until he was 3. However, I know some places that do weekend viewings in the AM for JUST kids and so there is a less of a worry if the kids are distracting.

I will not be taking Mac for a while. She cant sit still to save her life!! PLus she has never been a fan of movies or tv, for more than maybe 1 minute at a time.
I dont think i will be taking mac until well after she turns 2, maybe even closer to 3. It all depends on what i think she can handle, and if i think she would be interested in the movie or not.
I think Elizabeth would be okay maybe the first 30 min especially if I brought snacks etc... but after that I can see her climbing the chairs and yelling LOL!!
Honestly, I don't think I'll take Leah until she's around 4, if I think she even has the attention span for it. I remember taking my brother to the movies when he was 3 or 4 and he could just barely sit still for the whole thing. I know it depends on the child, but I don't see Leah sitting still for quite some time yet!
The last time I took one of my boys to a movie was when Eric was about 2 months old, he just slept or drank a bottle through the whole thing. Neither of them is old enough to sit through a movie yet - Eric would last a bit longer than Danny, but he'd still make it maybe half an hour before needing to get up and move around.

Thank you Jaidynsmum for the siggy!
I won't bring Birk until he is at least 3. It always annoys me when parents bring their children in too young and they can't sit still or be quiet so it ruins the whole movie for everyone else. So at least 3 and only if I see he's old enough, might even be 4 before we go.
Yikes, not for a while! Jack can't sit still for dinner, not to mention a 2 hour movie! I have heard that some theatres here are doing mommy and me movies in the mornings, so that you can take your baby.
I started taking Maya to the movies around 3, but then only to matinees when I was sure other parents and kids would be there. She's 5 now, and finally old enough to sit quietly through an entire movie, so we can go to later showings. Before that, she'd talk really loudly and ask if we could pause the movie because she'd need to go to the bathroom.
If you wanted to take her to a kids movie during a showing where there will be a lot of other kids there, I say give it a try. Our local theater does mommy and me showings on Tuesday mornings. It might be good practice for her to learn how to behave if they have something like that near you.
