....the maternity one that took weeks to get here. And it doesn't fit. At all. Can't be altered. Can't have a panel sewn into the back. Back to the drawing board with less than 3 weeks to go.

Ack! That's AWFUL! Poor Kelly!

But don't panic! We'll find you a dress!

What about a maternity party dress? With Christmas & New Year's, there might be a formal dress at a department store in ivory or sparkly white or something.

There's a David's Bridal in Davenport, right? Have you checked to see if they can bring in a dress from another location? You might be able to order, say, an empire waisted dress in a size too big for you and just have it taken it where you need it.

Chiffon Gown with Beaded Strapless Bodice - David's Bridal

100% Silk Chiffon Soft A-line with Empire Waist - David's Bridal

And this website says they can do rush order wedding gowns in about 10 days.

maternity wedding dresses, maternity bridal formal evening casual and career and clothing for pregnant women

It's gonna be okay! You're gonna have a dress and look FANTASTIC!

Or, how about a maternity bridesmaid dress - but in white or ivory?

What kind of price range are we looking at?

Have you looked on eBay? I quickly looked and there are a ton of dresses there that are beautiful and reasonably priced.

Haven't heard of this site before but that doesn't mean anything... Cheap Maternity Wedding Dresses,Maternity Bridal Gowns for Wholesale - wholesale Maternity Wedding Dresses - Wedding Dresses - Wedding Apparel - Milanoo.com

I checked out Milanoo on the BBB and they have only had one complaint that was resolved through mediation. Although their BBB rating is a C. I am not sure why its so low if they only have one complaint. Regardless we can do this!!! There are plenty of options out there. The other ladies gave some really good sites.

I called Davids Bridal in Davenport last night and they said they don't carry maternity wedding dresses, but they do have some empire waist dresses that could work. There's a 2nd hand store in town that said they have 2 racks of wedding dresses, so we'll probably look there as well.

I'm kind of afraid to order another dress online. I don't understand how my dress was so small. My first dress was a size 6 and I had just grown out of it. We ordered the second dress in a size 12 according to my bust size, thinking it would probably need to be taken in, and it wouldn't come close to fitting. Doesn't do much for a girl's self-esteem!

The dress definitely can't be altered, though. The lady doing the alterations for the bridal party was here when I tried it on. We're sending it back.

I'm not giving up. I'm just feeling very frustrated. And I'm not looking forward to dress shopping with my mother, who thinks that the solution is for her to make a dress. (Scary!)

Oh, and why must 90% of the bridal shops in the area close at 5pm every day? Makes it kind of difficult to get anything accomplished during the week!

Oh no! So sorry that happened! Good luck finding that perfect dress. I agree that trying something on is the safest way to go. You need the right style for alterations. Whatever you wear, you will be glowing on your wedding day though!

I was in a wedding the day before my due date with my first baby. We didn't know how big I'd get and the bridal shop advised us to buy the biggest size dress and then alter it. Seriously, you could have fit two fully pregnant women in this dress, and even with alterations down it was too big in the chest (and I grew to a size 40F bra).

*hugs* you could wear an old potato sack down the aisle and you'd still be beautiful.

I was 19 weeks pregnant when I got married. I bought my dress the day Jas was conceived. I had a friend alter it for me. What we did was, remove the zip at the back, added some ribbon and tied me into the dress. That way it was bigger where it needed to be and was still smaller where is needed to be. It also meant that if I had a sudden belly growth spurt, we were covered.

You will figure something out and you will look amazing!

I hope you find something, Kelly! I asked around and no one really knew of anywhere besides David's and second hand shops.

Wait...where does it not fit? And how long is it on you? I just remembered that my sister had to alter a dress once by splitting it at the waist and raising up the skirt (because it got more full as it went down, she was able to reattach it where it was wider and fit)

Also, the bodice suggestion is a good one too. If you can remove part of the back and lace it up, that would help the top.

((HUGS)) I got married when I was 18 weeks pregnant with Lily. I had so many alterations done, but none the last 3 weeks before the wedding. My MOTHER was sewing me INTO the dress when the photographer was there on my wedding day. It was awful!

I hope that you find something that works hun, I really do!!

Leslie, you are too sweet. And Kim, thanks for all of those names of places to check. We'll definitely be combing the Quad Cities on Saturday. NOT looking forward to it, but what can you do. I'll try not to think of the fact that my DF is having fun at his bachelor party while I'm pulling my hair out. (They're going to Fun City/Casino in Burlington and renting a hotel for Saturday night. No fair at all!

Mellie, that's a good suggestion, but I'm guessing that if it was possible to salvage the dress, my alterations lady would have suggested it. We're just going to throw in the towel on that dress and ship it back. I've been calling around and nobody carries maternity wedding dresses. So the plan is to try on empire waist/baby doll style wedding dresses and possibly some maternity bridesmaid dresses.

Keep your fingers crossed that I find a dress that makes me feel pretty, and that my mother, sisters and I don't kill each other in the process!

I just wanted to throw out there that wedding dresses tend to be sized smaller than normal! I've been a size 14 for forever, and I think my dress was an 18 or 20! And one of my old friends, who is a size 0 or 2 wore a size 6, I believe. So, don't let that get you down. Bridal gown companies are hateful.

I am sure you will find something that is beautiful. You will be glowing that day no matter what!

I honestly think your going to have better luck just going to a davids bridal and buying off the rack, youll at least b able to try the dresses on, and if it needs to be altered, they can just do it on site for you.

My old best friend was 9 months pregnant when she got married, and she just had a regular wedding dress on, it wasnt a maternity one. Same with my neighbor, she just got married at 20 weeks preggo, and she used her step moms spare wedding dress ( who carries a spare, lol) and it was just a halter top with a flowing bottom section, not even the empire waist kind.

Im sure you will find one hun.
