Do your children make or write thank you cards for Christmas gifts?

I'm going to for the first time this year, but just with Eric. I figure Danny will join in once he starts to write as well.

No, we never do. No one in the family does.

I really think it's an American thing, Julia... No one I ever knew growing up ever did either. As we were opening gifts, DH asked me if I was keeping a list for thank you cards, and I'm like - uh, huh? He feels it's necessary, so we'll do it. I figure saying "thank you" in person, or over the phone, is enough...

Yeah, I was thinking it might be more common in the US. But we don't even do it in person or over the phone, it's just assumed you're thankful LOL

LOL. My parents made sure I gave my grandparents a hug and said "thank you" before we left... That was about the amount of it though.

Not for Christmas when everyone is exchangin gifts. We are all just thankful for eachother and thank everyone while we are there. If it is for a child-specific occasion, like a birthday..then yes, we do. Also, for baby showers/birth gifts I wrote notes. So Keller will start learning about them at his next birthday. I am a stickler for notes, and DH's family NEVER does them. His grandmother LOVES me because I am the only one that writes thank yous

I've honestly never heard of writing thank you notes for Christmas presents. For birthdays yes, but not Christmas. So I guess my answer is no, we won't be doing it. Although Alexander does write a note to Santa every year. That might count, LOL.

We only do one for long distance gifts that the giver is not there to see it being opened/thanked in person.

I've never given or received a thank you card for a Christmas present... it would be a nice gesture but I don't think anyone we know expects one.

I only send them to the people that weren't here to thank them to their face and to friends of ours that really didn't have to give us anything.

Not for Christmas. For birthdays I would, but not Christmas.

No we don't, no one does it over here either. We say thank you either in person or through the phone.

We do, now that we live so far away from family so we can't thank them in person. When we did live near everyone, we just thanked them at the time we exchanged gifts.
