Kel, get your tush in here & tell us how Danny did today at his first day at his new school!!! (do you love how I made a thread just for our boys? LOLOL I am evil)

Well Cade did GREAT. I was afraid he'd think I was taking him to the doctor bc that's a pretty regular trip, but I explained everything to him as simple as possible and he went into the building, seemed right at home, was friendly & cooperative... TOTALLY different than I thought he'd be LOL.... he even said some words & responded, answered and so forth, which I was surprised at him a few times. She mostly did an evaulation today to see where he's at but she was happy with the fact that he IS saying words and that he does jabber. She said a lot of kids that are speech delayed don't make sounds at all, so that was a good thing. I think I'm really going to love this therapist. She gave me homework! I have to write down his 10 favorite objects, because she said that starting out with his favorite things is kind of like a treat - incentive to open up and say words and communicate those things he loves.

Okay Kel, you're turn

LOL, you are so evil, but then, I've been meaning to post all afternoon/evening and hadn't gotten to it... I'm so glad to hear it went so well with Cade! (And it's nice to hear that jabbering is a good sign, since Danny's rocking the jabber, haha.)

Danny's first day was... Well, it was a first day, heh. They say he settled in and did good, though he was obviously getting tired and disinterested by the time I picked him up. I'm VERY glad we decided to only go until 1:30 instead of 4 for the rest of this school year. Drop off sucked though; he's been totally loving being just with me the past week. It was so cute, we got there and he sped into the room and started checking out everything - totally ignoring me! When I gave him a kiss and said bye-bye, though, he grabbed my hand and went to the door, looking up at me like, "OK, let's go bye-bye then!" Once he realized I was going bye-bye myself, and he was supposed to stay...well, I left to the tune of wailing Danny throwing himself to the floor because he didn't want him to hold his hand.

Awesome.

His teacher was SO nice though, she called an hour later to let me know that he did calm down fairly quickly after I left and was doing good. Just his luck though, they had a fire drill for his first day

Oh poor thing!! I have similar issues with Cade, especially after a long weekend, totally throws him off. He does better if we have a normal weekend and he's healthy enough to go every day. He would prefer to go to daycare through the week but he'd rather that I stay there too LOL

I'm glad he did well though, I'm sure each day will be easier & more fun

Yeah, Danny is the same way. If it's a normal weekend and he's been going consistently, he's fine, but long weekends and holiday breaks are a little dicey afterward. He'll get past it... Eric's now at the point where if he's been out of school for a week, he starts asking when he can go back

LOL Kel the first week that Catherine went to pre-school they had a malfunction of the fire alarm. I am still working on getting her to stop being scared of fire fighters. She calls them robots and she hates robots!! The teacher said the entire class was crying. lol

I am glad to hear how the kiddos are doing with their new stuff! It sounds like both things are going to work out really well. My mum is a speech teacher and she loves that job. I really think its a job you do if you looooove it.

Glad everyone had good first days. It is always hard to adjust to a new routine and a new environment

It's scary that she is afraid of Firemen. Our Fire department comes out to the daycare every other month so the children can meet firefighters and see them in the full suit with breathing mask and all. Apparently there is quite a problem with children hiding from firemen during a fire because they are scared.

It wont be for long!!! Her daddy is about to be the arson investigator for the PD so he has to be a fire fighter too. She will get used to all the gear soon enough. I think it would be a good idea if they invited the fire fighters out to the daycares more often. They seriously traumatized her that day!! We talk about how they are good and they are there to help her. She still calls them robots though.

I'm so glad the first days went relatively well!!

Next Tuesday is Kate's CPSE meeting, and I'm so stressing about it. Ugh.
