Addy just found my tampons and wanted to know what they were. I told her they are for big girls. She said she thinks I put them in my tushie. LOL. She then said I am a Mommy and not a kid (since I said they were for big girls. Oops!). Anyway, I just could not think of a good explanation for tampons at that moment and said I would explain later. She then looked around and saw pantyliners and asked about them too. I can totally see this child telling people that her mother wears diapers or something crazy. So can you all help me. What have you said or would you say to explain feminine products?

Leah has followed me to the bathroom before when I've been putting on a pantyliner and has asked what it is. I had no clue how to explain it either so I just told her that it helps keep everything clean and that seemed to satisfy her! LOL

 That's awesome.
Jack asked me about pantyliners too, and I told him it was a special grownup bandaid. That seemed to satisfy him (for now - he may well ask why it doesn't have Toy Story on it, or something, and then I'll have to think of something else. )

Keller asked me if it was a bandaid. I said yes. Then he looked at it (I was taking it off) and asked me if I pooped on it. I said no. It was a fun conversation that I wish to never repeat again. LOL

Okay... WHY are you all taking your kids to the bathroom with you?? I never have. Ever. I just feel it's personal business. lol. No place for anyone to watch! Also, I keep my supplies in the bathroom cabinet so they don't even see it.

i actually call everything band-aids. Since she sees blood, yes she looks in the toilet ect, talk about no privacy. ewww.
She associates blood with bandaids, so i just tell her they are mommy band-aids for when i bleed. She is very content with that answer.

I don't take my kids into the bathroom...they wait until I'm sitting on the can and then barge right on in. Eric and I had the "Mommy band-aid" conversation many years ago. He dropped it fairly quickly and never asked again.

Exactly! When my DH is home and occupying Leah, then I get private bathroom breaks. Otherwise, I'm followed!

Locking the door = pounding and screaming at the top of their lungs, "MOMMY! YOU'RE GOING POTTY! I NEED IN THERE RIGHT NOW!" in Eric's case, and just screaming and tantruming and bashing his head into the door (literally) in Danny's case. It's just easier to let them come in.
And OMG! A like button!

LOL. I would like all of your posts, but maybe that would be considered overusing the new like button!
My girls also follow me, and I rarely get alone time in the bathroom. I usually only demand privacy when it is that time of the month and doubt they have seen me changing anything yet. Addy found the tampons today because I ran out of my stash in the container next to the toilet in the middle of the night and had to get out a giant new box and the pantyliners that were in the way from the cabinet. So they were sitting out this morning, which sparked her curiosity.
I am totally going to use the grown up band aid description if it comes up again. I am still so sleep deprived from my non-sleeping baby that I couldn't think of what to say. I am not too swift lately!

I just got the IUD removed so got some pads in case of a need. I am with Kel, sometimes there are inevitable bathroom interruptions. It just happens even with a locked door. I have been hoping the kids don't find the pads and ask. I usually used cloth ones which I keep in the underwear drawer but I am still not sure what to expect in terms of a cycle so that is why I got the disposable pack. Hopefully it won't come up. I heard horrible things about using the band-aid explanation... like a kid coming out into the living room covered in "band-aids."

I have inevitable bathroom interruptions as well.... not so much now, but in the past I have said they are bandaids and left it at that.

Yes, both of my kids scream at the top of their lungs and pound on the door if I lock it. I still do sometimes, but if I am home alone with them its just not worth it. LOL And YAY! Like button!!

Allright, I rest my case
I don't like that when someone "likes" my posts, it sends me a notification. ANNOYING! I asked Rachel to see if she can find out how to stop that.

Addison calls tampons coupons. And when we are walking down the aisle they are on in the store, she likes to yell as loud as possible if my hiney hurts and do I need more coupons as she points to all the tampons!!

My daughter hasn't seen a tampon or a pad since she was a year and 1/2. Thankfully she wasn't too curious about them If she did happen upon one of those items I'd tell her the truth even though she wouldn't understand it, I just can't be dishonest with my daughter. I don't think it would emotionally scar her to know those are feminine products used to trap bleeding lol. I guess I'm just too laid back.
