So im sure you might remember my post last week about charlies 9 day bout of constiation. I gave him a suppository and started him on fiber gummies ( pedialax i believe) He pooped after the suppository, a very large amount. Its not 5 days later, and he hasnt pooped since.
I have been giving him lots of water, and cute down on his milk in take since he was sick. He has been eating more, so i know he has to have stuff in him to poop out. But he isnt doing it. He isnt really even making attempts ( that i have noticed) at grunting or trying to push it out.
Im starting to get worried that there is a deeper issue here? Any advice. I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow, but i dont know what to do. he has always had constipation issues, but would usually go every 2-3 days. Now it just seems to be really long in between BM's and i dont know how often im supposed to give him suppositories, ect.
Any advice, opinions?

I would definitely talk to the dr. I have to give Addie, just a few weeks older than Charlie, Miralax from time to time. The GI would prefer her to have it all the time, but I only give it to her when she seems to need it. That may be an option to look into. I hope that he starts going regularly soon. Poor guy!

I'd definitely go to the doctor with it at this point too. The one time could've been diet or a fluke, but if he's taking the fiber gummies and has gone straight into the problem again, I'd think it could easily be something deeper... At the very least, the dr may be able to give you a more effective solution. Good luck!!

Go to the doctor... we went through this with Cooper around his third birthday. Our pedi says he should be going every day, maybe occasionally skipping a day.
Cooper is on a full dose of Miralax daily to basically make it so he can't hold it in.
There are probably deeper issues for us as he doesn't like to go on the potty but will go in a pull up but for now are keeping on like we have been before digging any further (i.e. a special "poop group" just for kids with issues).
I know how frustrating it can be, feel free to message me if you want!

Jack's never been a good pooper, either. His pedi told me to give him a dose of vegetable juice every day and it does make a difference.
I agree, time for Charlie to see the doc about this pooping business! Try not to worry - he is totally NOT the first kid to have trouble in this department.

For Mia, we had to limit milk and use Miralax for a while. Dried Fruit helped her a lot. I thought Addy had the same problem, but the dr said she was withholding. He said they sometimes don't want to poop because it hurts. It was the same treatment though. We had to try to make her poop soft so it wouldn't hurt to go. It is worth a checkup though! Sorry he is having trouble.

Is he potty trained? I know you were training him not too long ago. I wonder if he is holding it in, because maybe he doesn't want to poop on the potty?

He is potty trained, and when we potty ( pee) trained, he stopped pooping on the potty, but would go in his diaper at nap time, which really i was fine with.
It wasnt until right before he got the fever that things changed. I dont know if its that he doesnt want to go on the potty, becuase both times with the suppository, he wanted to go on the potty to do it. I put a diaper on him, but when i asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty, he told me yes, and then proceeded to poop on it right away.
Im not sure whats going on with him. I took him to the doctor today, and he felt his belly, and said it was soft which is good, but he wants me to basically change charlies diet ( completely) which i wont do, he hasnt had issues until 2 weeks ago, it cant all be diet related. I bought some mirilax and i plan to use that this week until he becomes regular again, and then i will adjust his diet more.

Miralax will not make him poop, it will just soften his poop.

Good luck Shannon! I hope the Mirilax helps. What sorts of dietary changes did the doctor want you to do? Kate started having a ton of bowel issues last year and we ended up figuring it was a milk sensitivity and now that she doesn't have any dairy she is fine.
