Hey girls! So I'm back after a week in Mexico - any news? Any new preggos?
It was a pretty good time. We did some really awesome stuff, like swimming with dolphins - they were 2nd generation captive born & raised, which made me feel better about the whole affair. We also went deep sea fishing and had our best trip so far (this was our 3rd attempt) and caught four barracuda, which was awesome, and some bottom fish too. We also went to a crocodile zoo and Jack got to hold a baby crocodile, got a kiss from a macaw, fed Mexican deer, fed turtles, held a snake, and fed a wild monkey. It was a blast. I managed to snorkel one morning, and we spent hours and hours in the pool.
The flight down wasn't bad, but we left at 8am, so with the drive and the check in time we had to get the kids up at 4am. Not surprisingly they both slept on the flight! Jack was so whipped he actually slept through the landing, the poor little guy. The flight back was not so easy but we survived. Can't say I'm looking forward to our next 5 hour flight though.
The house we stayed in was enormous and fancy pants (it was Villa Gauguin - you can google it to see pics) but not very comfortable - it was really modern and had huge glass windows which, with the 85% humidity and 30 plus temps meant it felt like an oven by 10am. So we hung out outside a LOT.
We had housekeepers that cooked for us a couple of nights and the food they made us was incredible! Best Mexican food I've had, hands down.
The only real downer to the trip was the snorkeling death we witnessed.

Jack and I were chilling on the beach (DH had taken Ruby for a walk in the stroller) and three guys came out of the ocean yelling. I didn't really pay attention, since the beach was packed, but then I put my book down and realized they were dragging a body out of the water. It was an older man, probably 60+, and they didn't know how long he'd been underwater. People were running around with oxygen tanks and a mask, and a few guys were doing CPR.
I grabbed Jack and we rushed back up the beach to get out of the way (and to shield his innocent little eyes from what was going on.) Jack couldn't understand why we couldn't go back and play with his beach toys, which were right beside the whole scene. Finally when someone came out with a sheet I realized he was dead - until that point I really thought he was going to sit up and start coughing, just like on the movies.
That was when his wife came out of the water with another snorkeling tour. That poor woman - she was clearly in shock and just kept screaming "he's DEAD!" It was awful. They prayed over the body and that was when I said it was time to go. We'd only been on the beach for an hour, but after witnessing such a heartbreaking accident I couldn't stay. We didn't go back.
I put pics on my blog and on Facebook and now I'm too lazy to go into Photobucket and add them there, so if you guys want to see 'em let me know!
